How to Add a Signature to Mail Program
in Imac

How to Add a Signature
to Mail Program in Imac

[ This is an experiment to learn how to adjust font size...
the aobe is H1 in brackets followed by and nd of /H in brackets.
I used brackets outside of H1 for bold and then br in brackerts.

Choose Mail > Preferences and click Signatures.
If you have more than one email account, select the account you want to create a signature for.
Click the Add (+) button and enter a description for the signature.
Mail creates a default signature for you.

Select any part of the default signature that you don’t want to use and enter your own text.
Select “Always match my default message font” or use the Format menu to change the font, color, style, and alignment of your signature text.
When you add formatting, your signature becomes rich text. You can also drag a picture or a vCard file to your signature.

Use the Choose Signature pop-up menu to choose the default signature for the account.
Choose None if you don’t want a signature to appear automatically. To have Mail randomly select a signature, choose In Random Order. To have Mail insert each of your signatures in order, choose In Sequential Order. To change the order, drag the signatures in the list.

If you want your signatures to appear above the quoted text in a reply, select "Place signature above quoted text."
Otherwise, signatures appear below the quoted text.

To add a signature to an account that you've created for someone else, click All Signatures in the left column, then drag the signature to the account you want to add it to. To delete a signature from an account, select the account, then select the signature and click the Delete (-) button.

To display the Signature pop-up menu in new message windows, open a new message, then click the Action menu in the lower-left corner of the header and choose Customize. Select the Signature checkbox and click OK.

Recovering Outlook Express
from Old Mac to Imac...

Leslie,

To open the identity it needs to be in the folder which that particular copy
of OE is looking. Follow the instructions found in this FAQ

http://www.macoptions.com/oe/faq.htm#reinstalled
to determine where and
place it there. Then you should be able to open OE and choose "Switch
Identities" and choose the old identity. Once you have opened it choose
"Export Contacts" from the File menu. This will make a plain text file of
your address book which can be imported into most other programs.

As for using this identity on your new iMac; OE is not available in OSX
unless you have Classic installed and can run it (Classic is not supported
on any Intel Macs). Entourage (part of MS Office for Mac) will read OE's
identities. Buying Office just for an email program is quite expensive
unless you have good uses for Word and/or Excel. Apple's mail will easily
import the address book you saved but getting the emails is a different
story.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me any time.

Jeff

My iMac heard this from Plantyourdream@cox.net at Plantyourdream@cox.net on
10/2/07 1:51 AM:

Comment: Jeff Long time out of touch. You have helped me immensely in the
past. Thanks again. I had a big crash on on my 9.2.2 OS with OE.
I copied this MUD to another system, but it will not open my
identities. I cannot see my address book that I believe is stored
in the crashed computer. Can you tell me how open the crashed
identity in the older 9.1 OS OE? I am using 5.02 OE.

Once I can see the identities stored on the crashed G4,
I will send them to my new Imac OS 10.4.

What to do when the URL on Safari drops
out of sight

1. Go to Finder.
2. Go to Lesliegoldman home.
3 Go to Preferences.
4. Remove these four Preferences:

com.apple.Syndication.plist
com.apple.Safari.plist
com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
com.apple.SyndicationAgent.plist

Then restart computer and it will recreate
these preferences and the URL will reappear.

Getting My Address Book Back that
I have Stored on Now Contact

http://www.nowsoftware.com/customerCenter/SupportNow/ViewTicket.aspx

You have a copy of Now Up to Date and Contact version 4 with the serial number ....
This allows you to run version 4.0 - 4.5.3 on your machine. Version 4.5. and higher were OS X compatible, but version 4.5.2 and 4.5.3 have some problems with 10.4, so you may want to stick with version 4.5.1 which you can download here: ftp://ftp.nowsoftware.com/pub/software/archive/nudcm451.sit This version will be able to read any of your version 4 or 3 files. If you want to upgrade to the latest version (version 5.3.1 works great with OS 10.4) then it would be able to read files from version 4 or hire. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to export the version 4 Now Contact file to Address Book, so you might be best served continuing to run Now Up to Date and Contact. Once you're in version 5, it will export to vcard's which Address Book can read.

Thank you.

The 10.4.10 OS on the new Imac cannot open the sit.

I then loaded in on my old g4 400 Operating system 9.1.

The screen says, nudcm451.sit
could not be opened, because the application prgram that created
it could not be found.

Could not find a translation extention with approrpriate translateors.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks,
Leslie

Kymberlee H: Hello and thank you for coming to Live Chat!
Kymberlee H: Pages causes a number of known problems, i am sorry to say
plantyourdream@cox.net: I was hoping that with this new Imac I would finally
Kymberlee H: Pages in particular has caused problems both in its direct export to PDF capability and in the "workaround" discribed in another sticky which appears to give variable results. Don C, our "guru" of pdf making, addresses this briefly with some suggestions:
Kymberlee H:
http://athleticaid.com/yaquinapress/PDF-FAQ.html#Mac_PDF_issues

Kymberlee H: Unfortunately, There have been numerous problems with PDFs, especially those with color graphics, created by direct export to PDF. These applications often take advantage of the latest features of the newest PDF specifications which often are not compatible with commercial printering technologies
Kymberlee H: and one more bit of advice , One way to test such PDFs containing images that might be problematic is to download Adobe Reader  from the Adobe site for your operating system and view the PDF in that. There may be PDFs that fail to view properly in Adobe Reader  that will print properly, but it seems likely that any PDF that views properly in Adobe Reader  will have a better chance of printing successfully.
plantyourdream@cox.net: The Imac has a duo processor, I understand.
Kymberlee H: I wish I knew more about them. I've gotten ahold of a little mac to test, just a metter of finding the time
Kymberlee H: I really like what I have seen
plantyourdream@cox.net: What is the preferred way to make ebooks on Lulu?
Kymberlee H: the most common would be to upload a word-type document
Kymberlee H: and let Lulu convert it for them, into a pdf that can be downloaded
plantyourdream@cox.net: micorsoft word document....
Kymberlee H: we have templates on site that users can paste their content directly into
Kymberlee H: there are rtf templates as well
