This is an excerpt from
the poem I read to more than 100
drums in Balboa Park at one of the first
Earth Fairs there.
I want to add to this,
or create,
Co-create a similar poem
that goes with drum beats.
The drum beats with each line.
I am the Crack.
I am the Crack beween people.
I am the Crack in people.
I am the Crack in the inner city;
I am the war in all people;
I am the Crack in pipleline
providing all the water
a farmer needs to grow
all the food we all need.
I am the Crack.
Can You Handle a little good news?
I am not all I am Cracked up to be.
I was born to disappear.
If you want to know how I am,
look at how I am.
Look at me closely.
I cannot be erased.
I cannot be stopped.
I cannot be imprisoned.
I cannot be fixed.
I can only grow into something else.
I am the Crack.
Make Holy ground where I am.
Be something beautiful in the crack.
Plant something beautiful that will
grow in the crack.
Plant a Beet in the Crack.
Root your self through the Crack.
Dance in the crack.
Dance the Crack and I disappear.
May the Crack crack wie open.
May the crack disappear.
May the last crack on earth disappear.
May I be the last crack on earth.
