November 29th, 07

to Maria Lopez,
co-president of PCOM Student Council:

Yes, Crunch time!
Wishing you the best for the year ends.

We will have some fun and celebrate after!

Thanks for your enthusiasm.

I know Molly Cooke. I am glad she is the other co-president!!

Also....a small room has become available here at the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community
for January 1.

The rent is $465.00, but the person can work off $120.00 of that helping with gardening.

My spirit is thinking that it would be great to have a PCOM student here on site, living here,
to inspire and take some steps to bring in the growing of the Chinese herbs.

Over the years, I have had various students from PCOM here for special days of gardening.

I planted Mugwort in one patch last year.

I will upload the mugwort before long to the blog.

I took a picure of a squash with acupuncture needles in it, surrounded by the mugwort, as a symbol
of healing the Earth, the OM response.

Thank you for helping with this.

I come in next Tuesday to the clinic around 11:30 AM.

What is your schedule next week?

I may come in Friday tomorrow, possibly to put up a flyer about the room availability.

Your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie

PS....there is a Trolley station four blocks from the House here at SDSU....and there is a trolley station, within walking distance of PCOM, I believe....
It would be good to try that out and see if it is practical for a PCOM student to use the trolley rather than have to take a car, or maybe a student
without a car.

Hi Leslie,

The food from the farmer's market is really good and I feel healthy eating it. I've finished all of the oranges and they were so sweet and juicy, like dessert. I sauteed the chard with zuchini and I also made a salad with the lettuce and tomato. Clearly, the quality of the produce is so much better than what I get from the supermarket. That heirloom tomato was excellent. There is nothing like fresh, organic produce. You're so right about the qi factor.

I've been working on getting support for the farmers. I've spoken with Molly Cooke who shares the co-presidency with me and she supports the idea. The next steps will be to bring the suggestion to the other 3 council members. If they are supportive then we'll present the proposal in a town meeting. I've also talked with a fellow student who's a filmaker about producing a film about the Hillcrest Farmers Market. He took down Joane's information and told me he would contact her.

According to my notes we don't have a date scheduled for a town meeting in December and I doubt if we'll have one. It's been a long semester and there's only 2 weeks left which means it's crunch time. It's going to be particularly hectic for me for the next couple of weeks, but nonetheless, I'm excited about this project. I don't know if we will coordinate a meeting among the council members before the semester ends, but if we do I plan on rallying for support for the farmers. I will keep you posted if and when that happens.

Thank you for proposing this project to PCOM, advocating the local farmers, and for the delicious, fresh produce!

Take care,

Maria

Let's keep the energy going.
When is the next student council meeting?

I will come.

Good luck on studies.

Could you write up a little something when you have a chance on how you liked the food
and the idea of supporting Joe and the other farmers?

This would be much appreciated.

I also like the idea of having the student council take out a share of the JR Organic CSA
and having JoanE do a demo.

in friendship,
Leslie
