Our digestion is important to our overall health and well being. Unfortunately, we have all experienced times when we've had digestion issues such as constipation and heartburn. Also, there is an old saying that all illnesses start in the stomach because when we have issues with our digestion our health can be affected. So, it is important to improve our digestion, we can do this perhaps by using natural probiotics and supplements such as the ones from le-vel thrive. However, if we really want to put our best foot forward in improving our digestion in a natural way, there are other things that we can do as well.
Eat Real Foods and Plenty of Fiber
There is a whole lot of truth to what we eat. So, the wisest thing we can do is start to improve our daily diet. For example, start to cut out saturated fats, and refined carbs. Another thing is to think about your sugar and even artificial sweetener intake. Try adding more high fiber foods such as fruits, grains, and vegetables. Add healthy fats such as the ones provided in unsalted nuts. It isn't something that should be done all at once but gradually start to make changes from eating processed foods with chemicals and preservatives to quality whole foods that come naturally from the land.
Drink Plenty of Water
When it comes to cleansing our body of impurities, drinking plenty of water provides an optimal way to do just that. It is recommended that individuals drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. Not only will this help to keep us hydrated but it helps to keep us regular, which means avoiding dreaded constipation. If you are someone who doesn't like tap water which may be a good thing since we never know what chemicals are being added, you can buy bottled water or invest in a water purifier for your home. Either way, always get plenty of water for optimal health.
Get Active
Sometimes we aren't aware of just how inactive we have become in our day to day lives. So, finding a good exercise routine can be beneficial in aiding us in improving our digestion. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular like joining a gym or taking an aerobics class. It can be as simple as taking a daily walk, such as after a meal. In fact, studies have proven that individuals who take the time to go walking at least a half-hour per day improve their overall digestion.
Slow Down and De-Stress
This is something we may not think is affecting our digestive health but it actually is. When we lead hectic lives we tend to eat all the wrong things when we bother to eat. Add stress to the equation and we can end up with digestive issues such as ulcers. So, it is vitally important to not allow our day to day lives to get the better of us. Try to slow down and be conscious of what you are eating throughout the day. Whenever possible take the time to really unwind, maybe do something that helps relax you like take a hot bath, read a good book or even meditate. Just remember that taking time for ourselves to unload all our stress will help our overall health.
Quit Bad Habits
Like eating processed foods this one is something that will be difficult to do but will benefit our digestion. If you are a smoker its time to quit even if it means tapering off. Cut out drinking alcohol as much as possible, and for those of us who like to eat late at night yeah that doesn't help the digestion either.
This may seem like a whole lot to process. No one said that improving your digestion naturally was going to be an easy thing to do, the best advice is to take baby steps. Remember, every little change can help to improve your digestion.
