The juice fast, Day 1

Severe detox symptoms, a bad day.

As one might notice I'm writing this on day 4. The first three days have been relatively full of activity, and I've been away from home and computer the whole time. But I'm still on the fast and committed to report, worry not!

The first day of the fast kicked off rather well, I had some hot water with lemon in the morning and the remaining double-diluted vegetable soup for breakfast (yes, a tiny cheat there). The soup was really a calculated plan, though, since I needed to ride my bike to town for an appointment and I was confident plain juices wouldn't provide me with sufficient energy for it all. Indeed the trip was stretched out to about five hours of not drinking anything, as somehow I didn't feel it was necessary for me to buy something while out in town even though I realized I had a bit more to to while there than anticipated. I just wasn't hungry. This was a bad plan. Eventually when I got home I did two sets of laundry and took them to the communal dryer room in my apartment house, and only between there somewhere I was able to make and consume my first juices of the day (cucumber, tomato-ginger and apple).

All this activity was more than I can usually handle in one day due to whatever it is that ails me - even laundry in itself, or a short bike trip to an appointment once a week - is about enough for the whole week, the other days I need to rest. So come evening and the busy day took a major turn to the worse. I had consumed all of the juices that I had planned to prepare that day and was contempt with that, and since there was no hunger I had a big glass of cold-pressed blackcurrant juice for thirst. Around there I started experiencing a headache. I have been prone to migraines for maybe seven years, but I did take this as detox symptoms. However some time after finishing the glass of juice I started feeling increasingly nauseous - something that I do occasionally connect with migraines, but this time it only got worse. I threw the juice up. This has happened only once during a migraine attack, so I could only connect this with detoxing. I have never experienced such severe detox symptoms before, even that sort of a headache was new. I was feeling terribly dodgy although vomiting did really ease the nausea.

The rest of the day I was really under the weather, able to only watch a movie and have a few tiny sips of cold peppermint tea. I think I had a very small amount of honey, too, simply because I was feeling so shaken. Did I have an enema that day? Probably, I can't remember (my apologies, my memory hasn't served me properly in several years now). If I did, I remember getting only maybe a liter of water in, perhaps the headache had something to do with not being able to relax and concentrate. However I did set up a candle in the bathroom, put the radio on on a nice soothing channel and had a duvet and pillow with me to bring some comfort into the process. This all, I think, is something I'm going to keep doing along with having an extra jug of water next to me ready so that I can refill the bag. Yesterday I accidentally broke my previous bag by leaving it full of water overnight thinking it would be a good idea it was ready for the next flush, but the plastic gave in and all of that water was on the bathroom floor in the morning, and I had to get a new bag while out in town today. Unfortunately it's a much smaller one with absolutely no size markings to point out exactly how much water I'm able to hold, and I had to begin preparing for the next flush by making those markings myself. The bag was over double the price of the previous one, too, so I think it's only logical to be disappointed. Needing to refill the bag mid-flush is not good for focus in my opinion, but it'll have to do for now.

I did get lost on my bike back home not only once but twice, this slight confusion and other mild mental issues started on the first day. Man, I feel old.
