Using the HP Kiosk down at Staples

I am a Mac/Iphoto and thought I would be using
the Iphoto print service. The time element drew
me to the HP Kiosk down at Staples.

CAN SNAPFISH, the HP PHOTO PRINT SERVICE ONLINE,
WORK WITH A MAC?

Last night, after I find some workarounds for the errors
i made on the cover of my Calendar for Mark Victor Hansen
co-author of CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL, I attempted
to revisit Snapfish.

I have used Snapfish in the past.
I see I still have numbers of old albums of my Super RIpe
Images on here. It was easy to retrieve my forgotten Snapfish
Password. Just click forgot passwork. Snapfish emails it quickly.

I was looking for the service that would allow me to work
from home, and then send my work down to Staples.

My first attempt so far--No success opening this up.
I am going to research this more Online and with
George Salgado, the HP West Coast Rep.

I was not able to open up Snapfish last night
to make a Calendar in my first attempt.
The Upload function just spinned through these lights,
but no Opening of the page.

Will Snapfish, the HP photo printing service,
work on Mac?

This says you can upload prints
on a Mac:

If you have digital photos on your PC or Mac:
Use Snapfish's QuickUpload tool to add multiple photos
to your account at one time. Read more about QuickUpload below.

NOTE: If you prefer not to install the QuickUpload tool,
you can use our one-by-one upload to upload photos
one at a time to your account.
Read more about one-by-one upload below.
(If you use Netscape or Firefox,
read Using One-by-One Upload with Netscape/Firefox.)

WHY SET UP YOUR HP KIOSK
LAYOUTS AT HOME?

I have Tiger on my Imac.
I will have Leopard soon.

I heard from Jesse at staples that
The HP Kiosk can be used at home.

The idea is:

Do the work at home, and then email it down to Staples.

They ask for one hour, but our Staples does not seem to have too much
of a wait on using this HP Kiosk on the days I have been in the store.
They have two of these HP Kiosks.

I have been on a Deadline to get this CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL
photo project done for my old friend Mark Victor Hansen.

Why the deadline? I can't talk about that right now.
It's a surprise. I will discuss that later.

Working from home would be a whole lot easier, after I figure out how
to use this HP Kiosk.

Here are some of the disadvantages so far I am noticing
for using the HP Kiosk down at Staples:

1. You cannot save your work!

The first day i spend about four hours moving photos around.

Presumably, my Iphoto can burn a CD and keep them photos in the order
I want, but so far I have not discovered how to burn and keep them in order!

I have been having CD burning problems since I started this assignment!
I have spend more than an hour with the Applecare folks at Mac.

A bit of this may be a learning curve.
So far I have not been able to get a CD burned
in the order of my layout. My CD burning has been
crashing my Imac for three days now!!!!

When you organize photos down at the HP Kiosk at Staples
you send the work over via the Kiosk.

Then, you have to Start over!

I would like to see some advancement on this HP Kiosk
that allows for burning your work to a disk
or having the work that is sent over saved
and/or burned to a CD.

2- The work does not appear to be editible
unless there is some way to save the work!

I would like to use this layout repeatedly
adding other photos from the MEGA participants
at Mark's events.

Once the Calendar was run, I discovered two errors on the Cover.
One was a low resolution of the photo on the cover.
I did not have this problem the first day when George Salgado
helped me.

I met George the first day when I came in.

He helped me print the cover. It was perfect.

When I came in and did my layout the second day,
I ran into problems.

I was having CD burning problems at home.
I ended up with a bunch of separate CD disks.
I had some higher and low resolutions of the same
photo.

Aside from choosing the low resolution version
of the opening photo, I also had a misprint!!!

Yikes! This Calendars cost about $23.00 each with tax!

Last night, I was doing some other work.
I had uploaded my photos. I left the computer to go
to the restroom. When I came back, another customer
was on the computer printing.

She had pushed Start Over.

This would have been disasterous if I have been working
the day before on the Calendar project. I could have lost
all my work.

ANOTHER HP KIOSK IMPROVEMENT I WOULD LIKE:

It is possible to see all the photos you want to use
with the SELECT tool.

However, I have not discovered how to read
the full info about each individual jpeg so I can select
the higher resolutions.

I see where there is a triangle with an exclamation
on the low resolution jpegs. This will help.

THE PHOTO FIX TOOL on THE HP KIOSK

I experimented briefly with the PHOTO FIX TOOL.
It did a good job my first attempt.

OTHER CAUTIONS:

Be careful to use the ADJUSTMENT TOOLS at the top to organize, etc.
There are times you cannot use the bottons on the bottom.
I will explain this later.

So far I have not discovered anything online that explains
how to use the HP Kiosk down at Staples.

I am going to email George about this.

Maybe I can get George to get a Curezone Username
so he can make comments right here.
That would be great!

CALENDAR MAKING ON at the HP KIOSK
vs. using IPHOTO on my Mac.

I was having difficulty with CD burning yesterday
and saving my work down on the HP Kiosk at Staples.

I thought to give making my Calendar on Iphoto another shot.

I wanted this to be a Calendar for the year 2020.
Iphoto only goes to 2018!!!!!
