I blog more days than I do not Blog.
I was Born to Blog.
I am a writer by nature.
Much of my life comes together through writing
of all kinds, including Confessional.
I was trained to be a professional journalist.
I graduated from Cal State Northridge class of 72
in Journalism. I was the first student from
that department to win national awards in the Hearst
Completions. My awards came in the area of feature writing.
My stint being paid to write came while I was still in college.
I worked for the San Fernando Sun Newspaper.
The two weeks I stood in as editor of the paper was
in February 1971. Thelma Barrios went into the hospital
for an Achilles Tendon surgery. I was promoted
to wirte most of the stories that were not press releases.
That experience was Classic and can be researched
in archives.
On the morning of Thursday, February 11, I believe
that is the date, a story appeared about an Native
Daughter of the Golden West, Etheywinn Frasier.
Forgive me, my head is tired right now. I will
correct the names and dates later.
Ehelwynee was really pissed.
The city of San Fernando was tooking at destroying
the Lopez Adobe. I am not sure if it was on the
historic register then.
She gave a laundry list of Crimes that she felt
the City of San Fernando had committed. These
were all in the area of disrespect for history
and nature.
It was a lengthy feature article.
The morning the paper came out, the San Fernando Valley
Earth Quake hit. A banner headline went on the paper:
Quake Hits as Sun goes to Press.
One of the Crimes that rubbed Ethywinne the wrong way
was that the Van Norman Damn was build on the site
where the original school house was located, a place
where children of different ethnic backgrounds came to
study in a one room schoolhouse. She related the
incident to the covering over of brotherhood.
When the Earthquake hit, a crack showed up in the Van
Norman Dawn. The people below the damn had to leave their
homes and move into tight quarters together at the disaster
relief centers. They had to rejoin in community.
The water seeped out. The ruins of the old schoolhouse
showed itself as the water trickled out.
The City of San Fernando fell. The lopez Abode stood.
Being Editor, I had free reign to see and seed different
ideas in the two papers run by the San Fernando Sun.
The experience of the Earthquake, as well as being
in that position marked me forever.
I have to say, that Being a Blogger at the BEA
March 29-June 1, LA Convention Center, is another Mark.
I was welcomes to be part of the Press Corps.
I was able to Blog right from the Press Room.
I have carried a lot of hurt over the years
Re: The way my career as a Journalist went.
It was not as if I did not have the ability or the
acknowledgement, and yet it was not meant to be
that I would enter the field of professional journalism.
I left Cal State Northridge on shcoking notes.
During my last year, I concentrated my focus
on getting a Teaching Credential. I did two internships.
Both of these teaching experiences were horrific.
I did not have good support from my Teacher Trainers.
I was also terrible at Discipline in the classroom.
The Master Teaching basically showed up a few weeks
before the end of the semester in a surprise visit.
I was having a bad day. I was kicked out of that
teaching program and never got my credential.
My plan at the time was not to go into teaching.
I wanted to go into journalism, but something inside
told me to get that credential while I had the opportunity.
It was a bad move.
Had I focused on Journalism, I might have
gained more experience and entered that field with
good opportunities. The way i left, I had few opportunities.
At the same time, My arthritis was getting to me.
I got a miserable job in a darkroom at the Thousand Chronicle.
I was fired.
The ONLY Job that came to be after I was fired
was outside of LA.
I was invited by Dr.Bernard Jensen to come to his Hidden Valley Health Ranch
heal, and help him write.
Poor me. ( I am being sarcastic.)
The whole experience says a lot about what we are destined
to do with our lives.
IT says a lot about Divine Timing.
Here I am now, a few days from the 100th Centennial Celebration
for Dr. Bernard Jensen.
I am reowning that I wrote a number of his books as his ghostwriter.
I am just on the other side of the BEA.
I feel very Legitimate as a member of the Press
as a Blogger.
I spend four days in the Publishing world.
The first day I did healing work with my Relationship
with Mark Victor Hansen. I will write about that later.
The Second day I was feeling really ill, but had enough
Juice to pull myself together to make the most of the
HCI party.
The World of HCI is shifting.
For many years, they were publishing the Chicken Soup Series.
Now that series will be published by another Company.
They are creating another series called the Ultimate Series.
The have a book near out Called the Ultimate Dog Lover.
The Ultimate Cat and Horse lover are next. Thare are other books
already in the pipeline.
I got Peter Vegso, my ally excited about doing
the Ultimate Plant Lover.
We were at the HCI party when this happened.
I told him to give me some money to back up the excitement.
He asked, "How Much?"
I said. "$500.00."
He opened his wallet. He had a big roll of bills.
He gave me five one hundred dollar bills.
That felt really good.
The rest of that evening was out of this world.
I went from feeling really sick to being in my Game.
I was planting Dreams. I was serving.
I spent a lot of lovely moments with Jack Canfield.
Mark did not show up.
Some of my old friends were also there.
Hyla cass M.D. was there. She is also a close friend
of Jack.
All the Elements were present for me to succeed
and plant dreams to be published by HCI.
Those seeds were planted 14 years ago,
when I was the photographer for Chicken Soup Book one
BEFORE it became a Best Seller.
That HCI party was Friday night at the Marriot Downtown.
I love that hotel. I love the Marriot. That is where I park
when I am at the Natural Product Expo West. The Marriot
is generous with free parking for my Handicap Sticker.
Right now, I am typing at Rina's, where so many of my successes
in life have been grounded.
There is a lovely cat sleeping to my right.
This feels so good. Now the cat is having a dream.
His tongue is making a funny sound while she is sleeping.
Saturday, I went back to the HCI booth.
I wanted to ground out the meaning of that $500.00.
I had a few difficult moments. Peter was saying
enough talk, get to work. He wanted to see an outline.
He asked I send him material.
That was not enough for me.
I know that he is busy.
He will be hard to reach.
I got to the HCI booth after I had planned.
I wanted to bring in Keep the Beet, but Security
gave me a problem bringing in my cart. I will know
how to do this better next time,
Saturday turned around to the positive when Gary Seidler,
the former co-owner of HCI with Peter showed up.
I have a heartfelt connection with Gary Seidler.
He was shepparding a few new writers through HCI.
He basically answered the questions I had,
and explained some things about the Contract process.
I basically just need to do what Peter is asking,
and Trust the Process.
It was good that I stayed at HCI.
I was starting to meet some of the other writers where
were doing book signings. This is all I needed.
More allies and persnal experiences in this publishing world
that I will enter. Amen.
A highlight was spending time with Larissa who showed
me the dimensions for photos to submit.
She will be my go-between. There was a big yes at the booth.
Numbers of the staff were hearing that I would be part of this
project. There are lots of details to work out, but I am confident
that I am on track.
The book is a formula book, so I will have to spend time to learn
the formula and make sure I get my needs met to teach about the Enchanted Garden.
I have started a Intro.
The doors are open.
