Purslane in flower

Purslane in flower
Here highly magnified (as are many politicians), the humble Portulaca oleracea is a common garden "weed" that often emerges as soon as you break ground for a garden, in which to plant all your domesticated garden favorites that generally suffer from a host of insect pests and plant diseases. Purslane is as tasty as any of them and way more palatable than broccoli IMHO. Each plant may produce up to 240,000 seeds, and don't you dare question that number under pain of five years in prison with the holocaust deniers! Each seed may be viable for 30 to 40 years, depending which "anti-weed" university-baked science quack you decide to believe :-)
