Yellow and/or pale stools
by telman 19 y
Stool starts out green , then turns bright yellow as it goes through the digestive tract. It is bile and bacteria that finally turn it brown.
Yellow or green stools can indicate stool is passing through the digestive tract too rapidly not giving it a chance to change colour. Bright yellow stools can also indicate not enough bile / bilary obstruction.
Yellow stools may be also due to certain medications or diet supliments.
Malabsorption problems can cause undigested fat in the stool (steatorrhea) which is characterized by foul smelling, light yellow to gray, greasy or frothy stools ...

Re: Is it normal to have yellow stool during the cleanse?

Yellow stool can indicate that food is passing through the digestive tract relatively quickly but also insuffient bile output.
Here is some technical info:
Pale Stool
Stool that is pale or grey may be caused by insufficient bile output due to conditions such as cholecystitis, gallstones, giardia parasitic infection, hepatitis, chronic pancreatitis, or cirrhosis. Bile salts from the liver give stool its brownish color. If there is decreased bile output, stool is much lighter in color.
Other causes of pale stool is the use of antacids that contain aluminum hydroxide. Stool may a ...

Orange stools may be due to certain medications. Beta-carotene (a form of vitamin A) may cause orange stools as a side effect so check any sources of vitamins or supplements, as well as intake of foods high in beta-carotene (carrots, sweet potatoes, etc.). Another possibility is if the stool is more pale-orange, it might indicate lack of bile salt (which gives stool a brownish color). Other sources are antacids containing aluminum hydroxide, barium from recent barium enema test, and hepatitis.

Gray stools, pale stools, putty or clay coloured stools may be seen in hepatitis, gallbladder disorders, or malabsorption conditions. Bile salts in the stool excreted by the liver give it a normal brown colour. Obstruction to bile flow out of the liver (you may see the word ”cholestasis”), or liver infections like viral hepatitis (A, B, C, etc.), may produce clay coloured stools. Possible causes for clay coloured stool result from problems in the biliary system (the drainage system of the gallbladder, liver, and pancreas): Malabsorption problems can cause undigested fat in the stool (steat ...

Pale floating stools are a sign of liver problems.
by drbailey 14 y
View Entire Thread 6
The liver produces bile which is dark green. This bile is what gives healthy stool its brown color. A lack of bile will cause the stool to become very pale in color.
The liver breaks down fats. If the liver is not functioning properly, it can’t break down the fats and the stool will always float.
A good healthy stool will be the length and width of an infant’s arm. (the shape of the stool is the shape of the colon...this is why narrow, pencil-thin stools are ALWAYS cause for alarm)
It will be some shade of brown & will come out in one or two well-formed pieces.

I was also thinking about what someone told me about clay coloured stools. My ex husband had this problem and someone said it was his gallbladder. I just looked it up:
Pale or clay-colored stools are not normal. If your stools are pale or clay-colored, you may have a problem with the drainage of your biliary system, which is comprised of your gallbladder, liver, and pancreas. Bile salts are released into your stools by your liver, giving the stools a brown color.

A normal color for bowel movements can vary quite a bit from pale yellow to dark green. Generally abnormal is considered gray or clay colored stools, and pitch black and tarry stools.
People with a very fast transit time (the time between when they eat and when they stool out that intake) may have stool that is relatively undigested. Mucus which is produced in the colon and rectum can appear light, but it is soft and resembles phlegm, not stool. Occasionally, a ball of stool may be coated with mucus and appear yellow-white-green. Very black stools are called may be caused by a variety of things but most of them are only relevant if the stools are a regular occurrence. What A Healty Adult's Stool Should Look Like
by humaworm 17 y
I have posted this before, but I think it is worth re-posting. The size and shape and smell of your stool indicates what the inside of your lower colon looks like and how well your body is.
A healthy adults’s stool should be the length and width of a small infants arm.
It should be a nice shade of brown - this indicates that your liver is functioning like it is supposed to - bile produced from the liver is green, which mixes with waste - this results in the brown color. If the stool is consistently pale colored - this is a sign of liver problems. It is actually one of the first si ...

On the contrary, I WAS diagnosed, via stool test. (blastocystis).
And I feel the need to mention that one reason why many people go undiagnosed is that labs are very poorly trained to look for parasites in stool tests, it requires time to search through the microscope at the slide - the bad guys aren’t just all arranged on the slide in a neat row.
Also, I have read that stools do not contain equal amounts of parasites (or eggs) - your stools will sometimes pass evidence, and sometimes the evidence stays in the intestines without passing out in that particular stool.

Have them test your stool three days in a row; it must be the first stool sample of the day; not the second; this is the advise of the dr. at Jetti Katz; that is how he found my Blasto, which other labs did not find, after I had taken Metronidazole before; they thought it was gone; sure enough, they found Blasto on the second and the stool sample;

A normal bowel movement should be some shade of brown, should be soft but still formed, and should be roughly the size and shape of sausage links, although this can vary with the softness of the stool. Your stool takes the shape of your colon. Foods and vitamins you eat can affect how your stool looks and smells, but so can diseases. Normal bowel movements DO NOT contain blood, and are not black or tarry.

How pale are your stools. To classify as a biliary problem the pale stools are usually grey, clay or putty like, often fowl smelling. Light stools are the colour of cardboard rather chestnut and indicate that waste chemical from the blood called bilirubin hasn’t hasn’t been converted to stercobilinogen; the brown pigment in stool. This is often a bowel digestion problem cause by incorrect transit of food (too fast) or by the food you are eating; especially wheat.

I think a CDSA for Candida will mostly return false negatives. My CDSA didn’t even detect Candida. My BioScreen stool analysis measured Candida, but within the reference range. I don’t think any stool analysis will show up a Candida overgrowth unless it is in the large bowel. I think most Candida overgrowth is in the small bowel, and this will not show up well on stool analysis. IMO stool analysis for Candida is in most cases useless.
