Re: vs Himalayan salt
by SqueakyClean 20 y
I guess you have to pay people to climb Mount Everest! High price for high elevation salt! ha ha!
Well, I understand that salt like Himalayan salt IS sea salt, just ”old” sea salt back from when that area was underwater. Perhaps Real Salt, too.
Perhaps Himalayan salt is economically better used for structuring and mineralizing drinking water, and then a cheaper form of salt such as sea salt for eating.

if the salt came from deep down and not altered, it is probably good salt, not sure where or how the salt in question makes it to the commericial market.
salt can heal and salt can kill, if you eat food, then you need salt, the worse the food, the more salt you will need. the second that salt goes out of balance, then that salt becomes your enemy and an irritant.
natural salt is not the problem, it is the accumulated foods within us that causes the problem and makes the salt a problem.

Realsalt vs Celtic vs Canning salts
by paraboy 13 y
View Entire Thread 6
I was curious about the chloride contents of salts and after listening to Dr Hal Huggins, he recommends a canning and pickling salt because it is the most pure, missing fillers and flow agents.
This is what I found
Redmonds Real Salt Sodium 530mg Chloride 98.32% DV
Celtic Sea Salt Sodium 330mg Chloride 520mg 15% DV
Morton’s canning salt Sodium 590mg Chloride ?
Wouldn’t make sense to use canning salt as a chloride to remove bromide?
Thanks,

Consume SALT for minerals, NOT for SALT.
Commercial SALT is extracted from the MINERALS and this makes them a sellable product called SALT. By world war 1, they added toxic chemical iodine to salt as a method to curb lumps in the body known as goiters and once the commercial food industry took over, humans has less tumors (goiters) , BUT cancers resulted from the salt and sterility from the chemical iodine, so government got it wrong and eventually reduced or got rid of the chemical iodine.

Seasalt us useless for the iodine protocol because it is pure white. Dr. Brownstein recommends Natural Salt, which always has color.
½ tsp daily Natural Celtic Salt, Himalayan Pink Salt, Redmonds Salt or Hawaiian black salt. If the sea salt is pure white, it is unacceptable (minerals have been stripped out )
Then use the same salt to do the Salt Flush. Complete details here:

I would suggest that you purchase and consume sea salt that is mined from ancient sea beds and not salt coming from present-day seas containing pollutants and heavy metals. Also, ancient sea bed hundreds of feet below the earth’s surface do not have organic matter such as bacteria or bird crap in it. The salt is so concentrated that it desicates and disintegrates any organic matter into plain harmless carbon.

Ditto to what Dquixote1217 says. Contrary to popular belief salt is our friend! Real salt, true salt, unrefined salt assists too many bodily functions to mention. One huge point is ”good” salt helps reduce blood pressure (also contrary to popular belief). American Blue Green has some terrific info on salt at their website. For a bit, I did use Celtic salt but have since changed to a Himalayan crystal salt (not sold by American Blue Green).

In Charlotte Gerson’s book she says, ”Salt and sodium in all forms, including table salt, sea salt, celery salt, vegetable salt, baking soda, sodium-based baking powders, and ANYTHING with ”sodium” in its name, as well as salt substitutes are forbidden.” Also skin contact with epson salts should be avoided.
I would be leary of consuming baking soda on a regular basis if I had cancer. There are probably better ways to raise alkalinity.

- used a larger amount of salt
Excess salt will overload the kidneys, cause extreme bloating, and in some cases can cause kidney failure.
Flush with plenty of water and it is beneficial to take potassium and this helps the kidneys remove the excess salt.
Sodium salts need to be balanced with potassium salts. Calcium salts need to be balanced with magnesium salts.
It is not advisable to take an extreme excess of any salt.

Sea salt is not the same as table salt, particularly Celtic Sea Salt. Too much sodium being bad for you is probably true if you don’t have AF. Nevertheless, sodium is critical for so many cellular functions, just as important as calcium, glucose, ATP, etc.
Typically Sea salt loses it’s Iodine in the processing of the salt. The idea is that Sea Salt has more of the body’s essential minerals while table salt is simply sodium chloride with Iodine added.

Fasting removes all the problems and what your experiencing is probably the removal of the original problems. There is more than enough salt in orange juice naturally, no one will be salt deficient while juie fasting that I have ever heard of, but if you need it, make it real salt and the the white chemical salts.

Celtic salt may be around 98% NaCl, compared to chemical table salt which is 100% (some sodium iodide added as well in table salt), so in theory you should use about the same as you would for table salt - however its more important to add salt to taste - that should be your way of telling how much is good for you.
Personally I feel that vata types may need more salt than others so it may come down to your body type or any maladies that might increase salt demands (ie adrenal fatigue and low stomach acid may be signs of low sodium).
