You are wrong!
Receding gums are just a projection of an internal problem.
Your problem are your intestines, your liver, your digestion, your microbiota, your diet and your lifestyle!
You can not stop or cure receding gums by treating the receding gums.
Receding gums are not a disease to treat, it is just a symptom of a serious internal imbalance.
You must start addressing your health in general, if you really want your gums to heal.
Diet is the #1.

Re: Interesting infos from my holistic dentist

I’ve got AF and receding gums. I started taking a product called Ora MD about 6 weeks ago. Apparently receding gums are caused by bad bacteria in the mouth and Ora MD kills these bacteria and allows the gums to grow back. My gums are firmer and pinker but it’s too soon to notice any improvement in the receding gums.
http://www.oramd.com
I believe AF also causes gum recession by creating the catabolic state that breaks down collagen in the body. I’m a client of Dr. Lam and I take his Dermagen product which is a collagen product for reversing the catabolic process.

Receding gums are caused by poor intestinal health, which is in turn related to poor liver and gallbladder health.
You write:
”I’ve been on heavy medication for 7 years-don’t know if that is something to do with it.”
I have no idea on what heavy medication you have been for 7 years, but you can bet those heavy medications have affected both your liver, gallbladder and the health of your intestines.
You need liver flushing and a very healthy diet and a very healthy lifestyle, if you are to stop receding gums.

Should have mentioned earlier that if you are using anything but a soft
toothbrush (hard or even medium) you can easily cause the gums to bleed.
Also with your soft toothbrush - brush your gums as well as your teeth.
This helps strengthen the gums and helps them to stop bleeding. I switched
to a Sonicare and brush my gums every time I brush my teeth. Gums feel
great afterward. Any soft electric brush will do the trick. I also
use a Waterpik which helps strengthen the gums too.

Composite filling fell out, should I wait to get another?
by 2Health 17 y
Since I started Oil Pulling again for a few weeks, (cured my gum infection :) a composite filling came off a couple days ago, I don’t know if it was because of OP’g or not.
It was a filling to fill in the receding gum line area, I have several composite fillings at the base of some teeth for that reason. Will I lose the other composite fillings from OP’g? Is this a good thing? Has anyone had this happen?
Since Oil Pulling regrows back receding gums, should I wait to have another composite filling put back in since my gum will probably regrow by OP’g and I won’t need one? If so h ...

I have receding gums, especially the lower front. I am afraid I will loose some teeth. I switch to making my own toothpaste with baking soda and salt and hydrogen peroxide but it is too strong and made my gum problems worse. I assume this would be good for my sensitive gums. Would it help receding gums grow back? This brush looks good but it is very expensive. Any idea how long you should go between replacing it?

a few other’s have mentioned this...and i am having this pretty bad as well...
the pain is only in my receding gum area that i have become hyper sensitive all over, as before, i only had the receding gums but no pain.
i am curious if it is a healing effect going on? i have been told by dentists/specialists that i need skin grafting in order to repair my gums but i always refuse. i am hoping to heal the so-called irreversible damage to my gums with oil swishing...
anyhow, the sensitivity didn’t start until iodine supplementation. any thoughts?

You should also swish your mouth with hydrodrogen peroxide for gum recession. Swish for about 30 seconds, spit it out, and hang your head into the sink, letting the extra stay on the teeth but allowing the excess foam to drain into the sink (make sure not to swallow) Then spit out the excess and rinse your mouth with water a few times.
Receding gums are caused by a bacteria, and hydrogen peroxide works for this(I used to work for a Dentist and this is what we gave the patients.)
Also you definitely need extra Vitamin C. This also helps for the receding gums.

Hi,
I have somewhat receding gums.
Because of this, there are now vertical spaces between my front teeth. Cosmetically, they are not pretty. It’s like there’s food between my teeth. (In reality there are just holes)
I want to start Oil Pulling to at least halt this process. Although I hope there’s a possibility that the gums grow back a little due to the OP. (is this even possible?)
However, I read on this forum that some people actually had their spaces between teeth increase due to OP.

Receding gums should be fixed with a gum graft. I tried several of these other alternative methods. I finally went to see a professional periodontist. DON’T believe any of the horror stories about this procedure. It is a common procedure, done in the office under a local antesthesia and is NOT painful. If you want to hear from other people who were worried about this very common procedure, Google ”Gum graft goes fine Relax if you need one”.””

Couldn’t comment on the color of the oil, but it would be helpful to know what oil(s) you’re using and how long after eating do you pull at night.
As for growing gums, I’ve had some regrowth but couldn’t attribute it entirely to oil pulling since I started taking lots of COQ10 at the same time (it’s also known to help with gum growth).
If you have receding gums, OP helps better tighten your teeth/anchor your gums to help fend off bacteria from the roots. It also does a good job of removing mouth bacteria in general.

If you are only mildly affected by receding gums, that’s great! Catching it early means that you likely won’t require professional treatment to fix it. Your dentist will help you identify the cause and will instruct you in how to address it. You may have to re-evaluate your flossing habits, get a mouth guard and buy a different toothbrush.

John,
My experience has been that if you:
1) choose a mild oil;
2) thoroughly rinse your mouth afterwards with warm salt water; and
3) Don’t pull more than once a day to start,
You shouldn’t see gum recession beyond reduced gum swelling.
However if you do have recessed gums, the big worry is easier infections given less protection around the bottom of the tooth.
And for that oil pulling is the best remedy you’ll ever find. I’ve actually cured tooth infections with it when dentists were telling me there was nothing to do but root canal.
