Lugol’s is lugol’s I believe. And that mix is definitely Lugol’s. They can’t call it Lugol’s if it ain’t Lugol’s, can they?

OK I see that we need to clear another confusion - I heard many times people say ”I take Lugol’s 100mg daily ” - does it mean 100mg of liquid (which is very small amount = 0.1ml) or does it mean that amount of Lugol’s which contain 100mg of Iodine? In second case that’s much more than 100mg of liquid.
So when I said ”I heard that it’s not safe to take 300mg of Lugol’s” - I really meant that amount of Lugol’s liquid which contains 300mg of Iodine.
So what is top Lugol’s 5% dosage? I feel burning in stomach when I take Lugol’s dosage with 100mg of Iodine at a time

EACH Iodoral = 12.5 mg, so 2 Iodoral = 25 mg. The 4 drops of 5% Lugol’s and 10 drops of 2% Lugol’s also equal 25 mg. If you did any of these options twice a day, you’d be getting 50 mg of iodine/iodide, which is the most common starting dose I’ve seen recommended by the iodine docs.
As for the Lugol’s 5%, it was the first Lugol’s I ever read or knew about. If that’s what I started with, that might be what I’d want to stick with. Plus, if you take, for instance 100 mg, 16 drops of 5% Lugol’s is a lot easier to count out than 40 drops of 2% Lugol’s. Nowadays, 2% Lugol’s is easier to ...

I have a bunch of Lugol’s 2% and would rather not spend money on SSKI at this point. Here’s my math (please correct if I’m wrong):
SSKI = 25mg iodide per drop
Lugol’s 2% = 2.5 mg iodine + iodide per drop
Lugol’s 2% in oj = 2.5 mg iodide per drop
So, by my calculations, 10 drops of Lugol’s in oj should be roughly equivalent to 1 drop of SSKI. Is that correct, or does the SSKI have some other advantage that Lugol’s in oj does not?

is topical lugol’s bad? not all the contents of lugol’s but if i put lugol’s on face the iodine in it is pro-oxidant. that should cause damage to skin on my face, no?
so how do you avoid oxidant iodine in lugol’s from damaging face skin? or should we just stop putting lugol’s on skin? any alternatives?

I just got my Lugol’s in the mail today from JCrows, but a couple days ago I couldn’t wait so I went to a fish store and bought Kent Marine Lugol’s Solution for Aquariums. It was about double the price of regular Lugol’s, but oh well I was impatient, I know what you mean about spending too much on different things. I heard on the Forum that Aquarium Lugol’s is better than no Lugol’s.
And organic Iodine is better than no Iodine right now. I have some too and I took it for awhile before I decided to go to the fish store.

I gave a good look at Lugol’s solution lately because I read on some website (Ask Walt Stoll I think) that if you have giardia, (which I do), that taking Lugol’s solution for a week will knock it out...
However, then I read a few hysterical accounts (or at least one) here on curezone of people who had taken Lugol’s and had it mess up their thyroids... Also, in the lab where I work they give Lugol’s solution to people who work with radioactive iodine (Lugol’s stops the uptake of the radioactivity by the thyroid). It will have the Potassium Iodide in it and it will be water based without any alcohol. The Lugol’s reference we will continue to use because, except for the
%’s it will be the ingredients Lugol’s used_ i.e. Lugol did not use alcohol and neither will we. Calling it Lugol’s 2% will be a qualiflier and as mentioned earlier the complete ratio and ingredient listing will be posted on the label. Maybe we should call it ”Lugol’s Lite”

I’m currently on a seven day wheat grass juice fast. I’m trying to fight this beast. I’m not currently using Lugol’s because I had a scary reaction way back when Lugol’s first started getting popular around here. The Lymph Nodes under my arms swelled up and turned red. It felt like they were on fire! Every since then, I’ve been extremely gun shy when it comes to Lugol’s. I guess I overloaded my Lymph Nodes with toxins. To get the benefit of the elemental iodine in Lugol’s, you need to take the iodine separate from the vit C. You can see what happens to Lugol’s if you put some Lugol’s in water, check out the color, then add vit C crystals (open a capsule if that’s what you have). The tawny color should become clear. You now have all iodide, not the iodine/iodide combo.

jcrows charges $9.95 for a one ounce bottle of Lugol’s; a whopping $55.95 for a 500 ml bottle (500 ml is approximately 16 ounces).

Lugol’s is not a tablet, I think that you have Lugol’s confused with iodoral, which IS Lugol’s in tablet form.
I use Lugol’s because that, or iodoral has proven to be the most effective at curing FBD.
And, I’m finding that to be true.
If you like the detoxified, by all means stick with it! :)

Iodoral is Lugol’s in tablet form. One iodoral tablet = 2 drops Lugol’s. There is conjecture that perhaps the iodoral is better absorbed...
Lugol’s is a heckofalot cheaper.

You paid good money for your Lugol’s, and it would be best to take it in plain water, separate from any supplement or food with vitamin C. Why run the risk of converting the iodine into iodide. There’s no reason to arbitrarily stop taking Lugol’s after 3 weeks. If you feel bad from detox and need a break, then take one and resume as soon as you feel clear again. Lugol’s is not toxic, but in some people can start a bromine detox process even on 2 drops a day. Enjoy your Lugol’s!

Laymen’s terms: you need ioDINE(aka I2) for cysts, nodules, etc. Lugol’s/iodoral contains the most ioDINE per dose.
WOMEN need I2.
Lugol’s is not always harsh on the stomach, in fact, the percentage of people reporting stomach issues with lugol’s here is very small.
As for your other Qs, perhaps a nascent user will pipe in.
I have seen more evidence of efficacy of lugol’s/iodoral than any other form of iodine...

Especially on point for people who have Lugol’s at hand and no access to potassium iodide, and want more iodide than the Lugol’s provides. Lugol’s 2% provides 1.5 mg iodiDe per drop, in addition to iodiNe. The recommended anti-radiation dose of potassium iodide is 130 mg daily, which is approximately 100 mg iodiDe and 30 mg potassium. To achieve 100 mg iodiDe would take 67 drops of Lugol’s 2% in water. Instead, consider taking 40 drops in oj, so the whole 2.5 mg iodine/iodide is iodide.

Yep, it’d be 21 drops of Lugol’s 5% IF the 130 mg being talked about wasn’t potassium iodide. With Lugol’s, the amount per drop doesn’t include the potassium. (Thank you to Trapper for teaching me this!) I figured out for a post above this one that 130 mg potassium iodide = 100 mg iodide alone. That’d be 16 drops Lugol’s 5% or 40 drops Lugol’s 2%, and either one would need to be in oj or vitamin C solution.

I take Natural Tree Iodine made by Barefoot instead of Lugol’s...fully ozonated hemp or olive oil does everything Lugol’s Iodine does without all the toxic side effects...Ozonated oil removes metals, kill parasites, removes vaccination residue...why can people have different opinions on Lugol’s....you people are like f**king Nazis with the Lugol’s Iodine....I tried the protocol, it is definitely toxic for ME...took 100mg to 150mg for a month and took 10 drops, on and off, for a year...grow up

I had to go back and look as I know I certainly did not pay $75 for an ounce of Lugol’s from Trapper. That price is for his ”sampler.” He is selling Lugol’s 5% with magnets attached to the bottle (mellows out the product) for $25, including shipping. I can’t vouch for any products from ebay as I bought my other Lugol’s solutions from Amazon vendors.
I bought the sampler and an extra bottle of SSKI to take advantage of the free bottle of Lugol’s.

Knowing your products were ”faked” or basically watered down...who knows what type of chemicals, etc. they really are...so you could have been poisoned in some bazaar manner..
OTHERWISE Lugol’s Iodine carries the skull bone/cross symbol and always will.
Even Dr. Hulda Clark, the poison queen suggested no one consume more than 6 drops internally at a time and before her no one was famous for taking it internally.

Jarvis advocated Lugol’s taken in water with ACV.
Flechas and other doctors who’ve provided the bulk of the research material/literature in the archives here advocate both Iodoral (a pill) as well as Lugol’s, such that the latter can be taken in various juices.
Various posters - Hopinso for one, has posted of taking their Lugol’s in grape juice.
Wombat likes the flavor of Iodine and prefers to take it in water.

Clarkson labs (apparently) ships Lugol’s in plastic bottles. Plastic bottles does not make what they sell ”not Lugols”, it’s just Lugol’s in a plastic bottle. We’re holistically minded, we don’t like plastic, so we don’t like Lugol’s in plastic.
Also, plastic doesn’t serve at all as a good long term storage for ANY chemical solution, but it sure keeps costs down for the big labs. So I’m SURE that Clarkson expects anybody that orders (that isn’t going to be using their Lugol’s immediately) to switch it to the better amber bottles.

Hey! I have been doing that with Lugol’s and whatever oil I have been using for oil pulling. Definitely with coconut oil and it seems to ”work” fine -- I use it for face-cleaning and moisturizing at night. I’ve also used Lugol’s and red palm oil, which tastes so horrible it MUST be good for you. I may just mix Lugol’s in the jar because I don’t think I’ll be eating it.
Another Lugol’s in the Bathroom use: I made a mix of water and Lugol’s in a jar for toothbrush storage. (I used to use mouthwash back in the day...). Anyway, it keeps them very clean...I do change it pretty often ...

Thanks, everyone. Based on my friend’s and Molly’s experiences with straight Lugol’s I am thinking I’ll go the oil or H2O2 route with a couple of drops of Lugol’s and use a cotton ”wick” to keep it in there.
On a related note, I got some of my oil/Lugol’s face cleaner/moisturizer in my eye the other night. I usually use about a 1/2 teaspoon of oil and 2-3 drops of Lugol’s (usually enough that my face turns a little brown-yellow, but it absorbs overnight). Anyway, I didn’t go blind or get burning eyes or anything. Just blurry vision from the oil on my contact...

People slag off Lugol’s Iodine but we have to ask why do the FDA and herb sellers fear it so much? Have you ever thought about profits they make? Why if you take Lugol’s you would hardly need any herbs for certain problems again. I can tell you that Lugol’s has seriously helped me and I wouldn’t be without it. The terms Lugol’s Solution and Strong Iodine Solution are somewhat interchangeable.
Lugol’s Solution is Potassium Iodide and Iodine in Distilled Water. A 2% Iodine and 4% Potassium Iodide + Distilled Water is Lugol’s Solution but not the ”Strong Iodine Solution” which is Potassium Iodide 9.5-10.5% and Iodine in the 4.5-5.5 % range + Distilled Water. Except for dilution, the ingredients and results are the same. Lugol’s Solution 2% is not a Sodium based Iodine solution; it is the genuine article in a dilute format. Hello - I’m running low on Lugol’s so I just started taking an oldish jar of ”iodine from kelp” (Whole Foods brand) that had been sitting around in my medicine cabinet for a few months. (The practical side of me is prompting me to use up what I have before ordering more Lugol’s.) Previously I was taking 5 drops of Lugol’s daily. I’m now taking 4 kelp tablets twice a day. Each tablet is 225 mcg. I’m wondering what the equivalent of 225 mcg is to a drop of Lugol’s. In other words, how many drops of Lugol’s am I now taking the equivalent of?

Below is a comment from you quite a while back regarding Lugol’s versus Magnascent and SSKI. If the Iodine in Lugol’s is capable of turning T3 back into T4 then why would you get good results from Lugol’s? I know you went with Magnascent and SSKI in the end but why was Lugol’s effective for you in the beginning? When someone asked you if you thought the T3 to T4 conversion was possible that you said ”I can believe it”?

If Iodine is taken with food, it will turn into iodide, before it even gets into the bloodstream. It’s why you do not want to consume anything with vitamin C, or selenium, or ACV, within an hour or two of taking iodiNe.
I responded ”No ACV with Lugol’s???” in the subject line. Not only did no one dispute this but it was suggested (& the posting was ”R”) that I put Lugol’s in capsules.

”You can use any weak organic acid like vinegar, or lemon juice, but I prefer to use 50% Citric Acid, added in equal amounts to Lugol’s solution and let it sit 3 minutes (E.g.: 6 drops of Lugol’s and 6 drop of 50% citric acid in a clean glass and allow to activate for 3 minutes). Then add about 4 ozs. of water and drink. My medical intuitive friend tells me that ’activating’ Lugol’s in this manner, will make it a much stronger anti-viral than just using Lugol’s alone.”
All you are doing is converting Lugol’s into SSKI. You can do the same thing by placing a vitamin C pill into the Lugol ...

Ok. You’ve got 5% Lugol’s. The good stuff. 24 drops 5% Lugol’s = 150 mg.
To get the same concentration as you have now, get a container marked to 200 ml. Pour in the 30 g of dry Lugol’s. Pour in enough water so you can stir to dissolve. Then finish adding water to the 200-ml mark. (You’re making 200 ml of solution , and we don’t know exactly how much water that will take, but it will be no more than 200 ml.)
In other words, their recipe makes 1% solution. You want 5% solution. 5 times as strong. So either you use 5 times the amount of dry Lugol’s they use for a&nb ...
