Type 1 Hypothyroidism
is defined as failure of the thyroid gland to produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormones necessary to maintain ”normal” blood levels of those hormones and ”normal” blood levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) produced by the pituitary gland. The TSH test is the standard blood test your doctor checks when looking for hypothyroidism. Around 7% of Americans suffer Type 1 hypothyroidism.
Type 2 Hypothyroidism

Most of your symptoms are very typical of hypothyroidism. This is also the most common reason for hair loss in women. Furthermore, both adrenal disorders and hormone imbalances can both contribute to hypothyroidism. So I would check this first. Lab teats are VERY inaccurate when it comes to detecting hypothyroidism. A more accurate way to detect hypothyroidism is with basal body temperature. Instructions for this simple test can be found on the internet.
Hypothyroidism symptoms include weight gain in some cases, fatigue, hair loss, constipation, insomnia, dry hair and skin, cold intoler ...

Anorexia or bulimia. People with eating disorders are at risk for hypothyroidism. In these patients, however, reduced thyroid function may be an adaptation to malnutrition and, therefore, some experts think that only the eating disorder should be treated, not hypothyroidism.

I have hypothyroidism, but have very thick hair that doesn’t fall out.
The list of symptoms for hypothyroidism are possible symptoms. Not everyone with hypothyroidism will develop every hypothyroid symptom. For example, weight gain is a common symptom of hypothyroidism, but a person with hypothyroidism can still be skinny. Part of this will have to do with what thyroid hormone(s) are deficient and what is causing the hypothyroidism.

The majority of your symptoms definitely indicate a hypothyroid state. The hard part is trying to find the cause of the hypothyroidism. Here is something I wrote earlier on hypothyroidism:
As for hypothyroidism again this has numerous causes. This can be hypothalamus/pituitary dysfunction, chlorine, fluoride or bromine exposure, Iodine deficiency, hormone imbalances, adrenal dysfunction, poor T4 to T3 conversion, high rT3 levels, chronic stress, and Hashimoto’s thyroidosis (autoimmunity). Throwing iodine at hypothyroidism is not always going to help since this will only work in a handfu ...

So here’s a survey for people to fill out so we can see how many of us suffer from both hypothyroidism and candida overgrowth and how many have hypothyroidism without the candida.
1) Do you have hypothyroidism? (What are your symptoms)
2) Do you feel cold all the time?
3) Do you get sick easily?

Herbs for Hypothyroidism?

Hello,
I’m new to this forum and fairly new to hypothyroidism. I’ve been doing research on hypothyroidism herbal treatment options and was hopeing to get some feedback from other people who are hypothyroid.
I came across a some suggested herbs for hypothyroidism at: http://www.hypothyroidismexposed.com/herbs-for-hypothyroidism.html
I’ve started using some of these supplements including Nori, Piper Longum and Tyroisine.
Has anyone used any of these herbal supplements? Has anyone seen results from them?
Thanks for your feedback.

How about if I told you that glandulars will improve your appearance?

Underactive Thyroid glands causes peeling lips and dry skin.

An underactive Thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) causes dry skin and delayed wound healing, fatigue, and depression. Thyroid gland produces two hormones that regulate cell division and metabolism. The Thyroid gland is located on the neck behind the Adams apple. The Thyroid gland is on the same meridian line as the lips. Therefore if the Thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones symptoms of dry peeling lips will continue.

Have you had a blood test done on your thyroid? I’m hypothyroid and I take medication for it. Be sure to get it tested! And yes, many health experts do believe there to be a link between hypothyroidism and candida. From what I’ve read it’s a chicken or egg question -- I don’t think it’s known whether or not hypothyroidism can cause candida to flourish, or if candida can contribute to symptoms of hypothyroidism -- but apparently there does appear to be a connection.

Hypothyroidism or low levels of thyroid are a very common condition in the sub-himalayan belt and many people in Delhi have this condition. It is also the most common disease among women and if not treated in time it can lead to severe health problems.
What is Thyroid?
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland just below the Adam’s apple (the slight projection at the front of the throat). This gland plays a very important role in controlling the body’s metabolism, that is, how the body functions. It does this by producing thyroid hormones (T4 and T3), chemicals that travel th ...

It all depends on the cause of the hypothyroidism. Low adrenal function is only one of many causes of hypothyroidism. If you have other symptoms of low adrenal function (allergies/asthma, autoimmune disorders, chronically low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension, chronic hypoglycemia, etc.) then I would focus on the adrenals first since this will likely be the cause of the thyroid dysfunction.
