This article appeared in Proof, What works in alternative medicine, March 2003. I thought I would copy it here. I am O Neg, and found it very interesting. Maybe other Rh Neg people can post their experiences here, good or bad?
'It disappoints me to read about magnet therapy and find no mention of the possible ill-effects of magnets upon the small minority of people who have Rhesus-negative-type blood.
I am Rhesus-positive, and personally, I have nothing but praise for magnetic therapy. Combined with self-help homeopathy, magnets have helped me to rid myself of nearly 100 per cent of my arthiritis and, on the occasional remission, I sleep on a large, strong magnet and I'm back to normal next morning.
Unfortunately, my wife is Rhesus-negative, and she cannot tolerate magnets, either positive or negative. I am also unable to use them on my water supply. As a point of interest, my wife is adversely affected by ionisers and by jug water filters (but not in-line water filters).
In the early days, my wife bought at least four different makes of magnetic bracelets. After wearing them for several weeks, she had to return each one for a refund. She offered one to a friend-who is also rhesus-neg - whose arthiritis was similarly made worse.
Not a single one of the magnetic bracelet manufacturers I have contacted ever responded to my request to investigate the possibility of the adverse effects of their products on people who are Rh Neg. The reply was usually something like 'Magnets may have adverse affects on a few people', but they were not prepared to mention this in their adverts nor do any research.
This reluctance to investigate the possible adverse effects of magnetic therapy makes me very suspicious of the possiblility that a powerful organisation may be behind magnetic therapy that is suppressing all evidence of the effects on people with Rh neg blood.
Let this be a warning to your readers that there could be side-effects to magnetic therapy depending on your Rhesus blood type.'
