- An upsetting and surreal dream please help me interpret it...
Okay Guys, I didn't drink alcohol (not in a few weeks actually), I didn't eat late, I didn't watch anything on TV to trigger this dream:
I am in a town I have never been to for a reason which I do not know. It is a smallish town in California between San Francisco and Monterrey - I have no clue why I knew this in the dream, but I am passing it on.
I am with my father, my old roommate from a few years back and my sister. As we walk down the street on our way somewhere, there is this ominous feeling - this sick dreadful evil hanging in the air. It is somewhat deserted and the people that are on the streets rush around hurried, heads bowed, shooting quick darting glances our way. It is as if something horrible has happened that everyone on the street knows about except us.
We go to this apartment, on the first floor behind a storefront that belongs to some people that my father knows. I am not sure if we were actually on our way there to begin with, or if we went there for refuge from whatever “it” hung in the air there. A couple lives there - they are reminiscent of your stereotypical middle-aged hippies. The apartment is small and messy and was last decorated in the 70s. All on the first floor with a patio area that looks cluttered and unkempt but still relatively inviting, with no view of the street. The only window is the large patio door. Again, detail that may be irrelevant, but so vivid I have to include it.
The couple tells us that we are safe as long as we remain in their place but that we should not leave the apartment because if we do we will hear her.
Hear her? Who? We ask? Well, apparently there is this female evil indefinable spirit, or presence or existence there in that town. And almost like a poisonous gas, if you go outside she affects you. She takes away your happiness. These are all my words. I cannot remember exactly how we were told in the dream…I do not she didn’t use as much detail to describe it, but it was almost like we knew with very little explanation what was going on. That is the only way to describe it.
So we are trapped inside the apartment. Nothing too interesting is happening. We are analyzing the situation, talking about some other people we know that are in the town for work and wondering if they are okay. After a while, my roommate and I decide we are going out – not sure why we think it would be okay. Apparently, we think we won’t be affected by the presence.
When we go out we walk for a while, and nothing bad happens to us. The streets are deserted and it is completely quiet. We finally get to the café where we are going. There is a small movie theatre and people are waiting in line outside at the theatre. People are also waiting outside to get into the café we are going to. So there a re a lot of people around and it seems almost normal. Except people aren’t really talking to each other and they all look as if they are filled with fear.
Then we hear it. A female voice – a whisper – but loud as if it replaces the wind. We are fearful, but still okay – unaffected. The voice is saying things about the various people standing there…not really talking to those people, but rather about them. I can’t remember everything the voice said, it was general physical criticism…about people’s weight, and attractiveness and looks and things like that. But it was very serious and whispery and upsetting for whatever reason.
So then we go into the café. And we are concentrating primarily on each other. And we are trying very hard to smile and be pleasant and be happy. And we are afraid (my roommate and I) to not be with each other. When we are walking to our seat we stop for a minute and talk and I am smiling and pleasant. A woman nearby, who looks miserable, and sleep deprived says to me, “How do you not let her affect you?” And I do not answer her. I go to the counter to pay for something for less than 150 seconds, and when I turn around my roommate isn’t there. I find her in a backroom and she has been affected by the voice. She is almost collapsing and she is miserable and unhappy. I think I try to talk to her to get her out of it, but her eyes are barely open and she does not respond. Then I wake up.
When I woke up, I felt scared - like the dream was real. I even looked at a map of California, because the name of the town I was in was somehow mentioned in my dream, and I went to see if it really existed. I have NO CLUE what this means – I have NEVER had any type of dream similar…
