I cannot say for Threelac but can definitely tell you all about LB12. I promote and sell LB12.
I believe Threelac is a "freeze-dried" form of probiotic, ie., in powder or capsule form. A good probiotic should have the following characteristics:
i) multi-strains - because different strains work in different areas of the GI tract. LB12 has one strain that no other probiotic has - Enterococcus faecalis TH10. E faecalis TH10 has been shown in in-vitro to inhibit antibiotic resistant bacterium such as MRSA, VRSA and E coli 0157. It has also been shown to inhibit H pylori. LB12 lists all of the 12 strains on its website, does Threelac do that?? None of LB12's strains are SBO and that is important because some SBO are not suitable for the human digestive system.
ii) as many colonizing strains as possible - LB12 lists on the website that 5 strains are colonizing. This means they are permanent as these bacterium can attach themselves to the epithelial intestinal walls. They "crowd out" the harmful bacteria and generally can prevent re-infection and recurrence of the digestive problem. They become a more permanent solution to most other form of treatment in that, if replenished on a regular basis, they can have a lasting effect
iii) the bacteria count for LB12 is certain - 59 million bacteria stated and that is what you get when you take LB12. All alive and gets to work immediately. That is why in the Candida trial with the National Candida Society of UK, the participants felt an effect ("die-off") within hours of taking LB12. A freeze-dried probiotic cannot be certain how many of the bacteria can be revived. "Freeze-drying" is a very harsh industrial process more suitable for foods to preserve them than for a living organism. It extracts all the moisture and water and hope that when taken into the GI tract, the water in there can revive the bacteria. In the process the cellular structure is damaged. The percentage of revival is very low and one of the reasons why freeze dried probiotic often state that they have billions of bacteria. There is no certainty, if any, can be brought back alive
iv) The bacteria must also be protected from the strong stomach acids. LB12 has a cellulose fibre gel to do that. This capsules contains no gluten or animal content.
v) LB12 is completely vegetarian and suitable for lactose intolerant individuals too. Not sure if that is also the same for Threelac or other probiotics
vi) LB12 is produced from a totally natural fermentation process for a period of 5 years. This is necessary for it to achieve maximum strength and it is 6x stronger than any probiotic on the market today.
