Feather Meal - chicken's Pink Slime
- Feather Meal - chicken's Pink Slime
Feather Meal is the chicken equivalent of Pink Slime, which we heard lots about in 2012, and I see it here, a few items down the row.
Feather Meal is ground up chicken feathers, "processed into meal, which can then be used in a number of ways - among them fertilizer, and as an additive to feed for chickens, pigs, fish, and cattle."
In that Feather Meal is residues of antibiotics in chicken feed, as well as other chemicals and drugs used on chicken fams. It seems the feathers retain residues of all that, and then it is recycled back.
Drugs banned years ago continue to show up that way.
Also, 25% of Feather Meal used in USA chicken farms COMES FROM FREAKIN' CHINA, where drugs banned in the USA are still allowed. So, round and round, here it is again. The antibiotic flouroquinolone is of special concern - it was banned in 2005 due to harm to human health.
Oddities in Feather Meal, and therefore probably chicken meat as the material makes the trip back to farms:
- fluoroquinolone residues
- acetaminophen (Tylenol),
- diphenhydramine (the active ingredient in Benadryl for anxiety issues in poultry;
- norgestimate, a sex hormone.
Farmers and chicken ranchers might not know what is in the chicken feed they buy. The secrets are hidden in the facilities that produce the chicken feed, and it seems they are shut to researchers.
Article link below - and pray for the authorS's well being - powerfull corporate interests might want to shut them up for exposing these facts of chicken farming. These are dangerous times for truth-tellers.
