A friend of mine has 2 cats and can't deworm them properly with normal dewormers from the vets as it makes them sick. Would it be safe for her to give them black walnut? Any other suggestions?
I just got my new 3 month old puppy,DJ, from my local shelter and she had contracted kennel cough while she was there. They gave her a 2nd distemper(i think) shot before I took her home. Took her to the vet the 2 days ago...she gave me antibiotics for her nose and some cough syrup for her thorat, and some pills for her throat. Cough seems to be going away but the puppy now has conjunctivitis in her one eye and doesn't want to eat....she will have something to drink every once and awhile. She seems to sleep all day long. She'll whine to let me know she has to go to the bathroom and then once she goes, she takes a couple steps and lays down and goes back to sleep. She doesn't want to play with her toys and seems to be dazed. She doesn't seem to be sturdy on her back legs. In the morning she was pretty alert..couldn't sit still in the car. Later I tried to give her the cough pills, she won't swallow them! Fiesty! lol! She then slept off and on for the rest of the day. Tried giving her some corn syrup to wake her up a little...didn't work. Took her to the vet today and they took some blood to see if her white blood count is low and gave her some eyedrops. Are most puppies like this when they're sick or could there be something wrong?
I don't know what worms, it's my friend's cats. All I know is that when she tries to deworm them they vomit when she gives them the dewormer (on the 3rd dose). I will ask her. Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on.
Black walnut can be dangerous in both dogs and cats unless you know what you're doing. Its one of the things that are only advised to use if its prescribed by a holistic vet. Cats are sensitive. So you might want to do some google searches first to learn more.
I don't know much about it because I've had no need for it. This subject just comes up on a lot of other natural/herbal dog and cat boards I'm on.
Not sure if black walnut is dangerous to cats, however, they don't like the taste and there's no supportive herbs a cat needs when deparasiting. Read my experience below:
After all the research i finally found the solution for people who are getting well and cleaning parasites and don't want their pets to reinfect them: the problem of zapping their pets), i think it will answer most people's problems zapping my many cats!
2) PARALIXER(HOMEOPATHIC HERBS): http://www.ihealthtree.com/paralixer-2oz-king-bio-natural-medicines.html (CLEAR, ODORLESS, TASTELESS--USE 3-6 DROPS PER 2 CUPS OF WATER PUT RIGHT INTO PET'S BOWL (30 DAYS) THEN 1X PER WEEK FOR MAINTENANCE. No tricking or disappointment or wasting of products due to the cat smelling cloves or refusing wormwood! I'm using it now and NONE of my cats notice it at all, not even the picky ones.
Here's the ingredients: (The are all homeopathic/herbs - some of these herbs are their Latin names, I looked up each one up and Like "Tanacetum Vulgare" which is the same as the common herb names “Tansy, bitter button, cow bitter, golden button, mugwort.”
Calcarea Carbonica, Chenopodium Anthelminticum, Cina, Croton Tiglium, Filix Mas, Gambogia, Granatum, Lycopodium Clavatum, Mercurius Corrosivus, Natrum Phosphoricum, Santonium, Senna, Spigelia Anthelmia, Stannum Metallicum, Tanacetum Vulgare, Teucrium Marum, Zingiber Officinale - . Each ingredient is in equal volumes of 10x, 30x, and 100x potencies in a pure water base.
Most of them remove and kill parasites, but some help with the soothing of the stomach to assist in parasite elimination (some of the cats put on a parasite program will vomit the 1st day--due to the parasites dying) so the other herbs that assist in the mixture are very beneficial, which is another reason to use PARALIXER.
BLACK WALNUT is is good for humans>>>>But don't bother with trying to give that to your cat it doesn't taste good to cats and they won't eat it and it doesn't contain the other supporting herbs that soothe the stomach and support the body reaction to killing the parasites. use this one for pets: http://www.pets4homeopathy.com/remedies.html
(scroll down until you see PARASITES) there's another place that is selling it for only $6.50: http://www.ihealthtree.com/paralixer-2oz-king-bio-natural-medicines.html
your cat may vomit the first day, but that will stop after the 2nd day. I gave it to all 13 of my cats and only one vomitted, he was the most parasitic one too-- a feral wild cat. but that is normal for some cats with parasites to vomit. but the other 12 cats didn't vomit at all.
DO THE PARALIXER FOR 30 DAYS: 4-6 DROPS OF WATER PER 2 CUPS OF WATER (PUT IN THEIR BOWL). DO 1X PER YEAR MINIMUM, 2X PER YEAR IF OUTDOOR CATS, 3X IF A CATTERY WITH MULTIPLE CATS.
but the pills at the vets give only kill about 3-5 species of worms, whereas the paralixer kills tape, roundworm, hookworm, and like 20-30 other types.
sometimes the vomitting means the doseage is too high for that cat, try using less. i gave my cat a half of a tape worm tab once even though his body weight called for 1.5 pills. but it killed the tape worms right away. so apparently the doseage can depend on the cat and not always their size.
ALSO SEE BELOW FOR THE PET ZAPPER COLLAR THAT ALSO KILLS PARASITES AND VIRUSES AND PATHOGENS.
it's homeopathic/all herbs clear, odorless, tastelss, and you just put 4-6 drops per 2 cups of water (can put right in their water bowl and they will drink it no problem). do for 30 days and do 1x per year, 2x for multiple cat homes, and 3x for catteries (10+ cats).
use cat litter box liners and keep the box clean.
