Just another point of view here - I can not tolerate whole grains or any kind of starchy carboydrate. Whenever I eat a nice homemade, vegetarian barley and bean soup, I become so exausted that I can't even move and have to go lie down for several hours afterwards. I have been looking into Metabolic Typing and have been coming up as a "Protein" type, so even things that are basically good, like whole oats or tomatoes, are not good for MY metabolic type. I had to stop eating any whole grains and have protein and "good" fats (salmon, avocado, walnuts) with each meal and then I have much more strength and energy. The other day when I made some fresh fruit juice, I was so exhausted I could barely move - my body can only handle vegetable juices from green vegetables - fruit juice and carrot juice do something bad to my insulin/glucose levels.
