Strange. I have been trying to alkanize by adding raw foods. Everyday now for about 1 1/2 weeks I have been eating a huge salad for lunch. I use red leaf lettuce, cucumber, shredded radish, sometimes a small amount of shredded carrot, flaxseed, olive oil and garlic. After a few days of doing this and drinking red cabbage juice the die off is so intense I can barely stand it. The die off had started subsiding. I was actually starting to think their may not be much candida left since I was starting to feel good and antifungals were not giving me much die off. I was taking GSE and garlic without having intense reactions, I had some , but nothing severe. The only thing I have added has been red cabbage. Convinced of this I searched the internet for red cabbage and die off. I stumbled upon a few sites that state that it can cause intense die off.
Has anyone else tried it? I do not know why it would cause die off. But I know that it is. I have die off that is so severe I feel like I just started this diet. Not to mention I have seen lots of things hanging out of bm's and I feel miserable. So I ate even more of it, lol.
I have read many times that really good healthy food can sometimes cause die off, but this is strong.
Would anyone else be willing to eat red cabbage raw for a week or two and see what happens? I am curious.
cabbage, and especially raw cabbage juice, is VERY good for the stomach and digestive track. it can cure ulcers in days. it can help to decongest the liver, and can clear out the colon, heal intestinal ulcers, and normalize the ph of the digstive track. it is a wonder food, and more should do it. my favorite is cabbage, apple, giner, lemon juice with some apple cider vinegar. it really rocks. not enought people know of the amazing helaing properties of cabbage, i am a big fan. i am going ot try to ferment my cabbage juice, we'll see how that goes.
here is what is found.
Over consumption of uncooked "goitrogenic" foods, such as brussels sprouts, broccoli, rutabaga, turnips, kohlrabi, radishes, cauliflower, African cassava, millet, babassu fruit, cabbage and kale CAN cause HYPOTHYROIDISM.
Do a search on internet on Hypothyroidism and Cabbage. Consuming too much of "raw" cabbage may not be very good idea as it a "goitrogenic" food...
Interesting. I had already decided I am not eating now for a few days. I want to see if that was what was causing the die off. Good info though. I will make sure not to add it to my diet everyday. Don't need anymore problems that's for sure.
Just curious, Michelle... Did the die off symptoms stop or continue while eating cabbage everyday?
Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc. are veggies of the cruciferous family. If not completely, COMPLETELY digested they ferment and cause gas. Ever pass a cabbage or broccoli patch that has been harvested and is waiting for the turnover of soil before winter sets in? The farmer lets it decompose/ferment on top of the soil so as to not attract them into the soil.
There is a huge rotting gas smell coming from the decomposing cabbage. With raw foods, though they contain their own enzymes, all that fiber can be harder to digest for people with less than optimal digestion or those with gut problems; candida included. Eating a large amount of cabbage could account for the feeling of die off, when in fact it could be fermenation in process.
