I began using iodine, over 100mg a day, about 6-7 months ago. I originally started because around the time I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I suddenly (within a couple of months) gained 30+ pounds and couldn't get it off. I got my Hashimoto's under control due to a variety of holistic treatments (not doctors!) and was told right before I started Iodine that my body "showed absolutely no sign of inflammation." Since starting iodine, however, I've gained another 10 pounds or so. I don't want to stop as the gains have been great (gains I wasn't even looking for), but I've kept searching for the missing link in what is keeping me fat. Enter Boron. About 6-9mg a day for THREE DAYS and I've already lost 6 pounds. No other changes, still eating the same healthy, organic, low-sugar, non-processed, relatively (but not scarily or weirdly) low-carb diet I've been eating for years. I read online about a study that demonstrated similar dramatic and sudden weight loss when rats were given Boron, but little else. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences. Thank you!

Why boron made you loose those pounds so rapidly; my guess is its effect on the parathyroid (as important for the parathyroid as Iodine is to the thyroid). And its effect on hormones.
"Boron is required for the maintenance of bone and normal blood levels of estrogen and testosterone; within eight days of supplementing boron women lost 40 percent less calcium, 33 percent less magnesium and less phosphorus through their urine.
Women getting boron supplementation had blood levels of estradiol 17B doubled to 1evels found in women on estrogen replacement therapy," the at 10 ppm; levels of testosterone almost doubles.
More is becoming known of the biochemical function of boron in human and animal tissues. Because boron affects steroid hormone metabolism in humans and animals, and because the response of experimental animals to boron deficiency seems to be enhanced by nutritional stressors that induce secondary hyperparathyroidism (i.e. magnesium deficiency and aluminum toxicity, it would not be surprising to find that boron affects major mineral metabolism via a regulatory role involving a hormone."
interesting, but also a warning of NOT using boric acid; "Years ago, boric acid was administered at 0.5 g/day to achieve weight loss. This dosage caused boric acid diarrhea, in addition to considerable deterioration of nutrient absorption."

This is a reply to # 2,227,230Great information. I had lost some weight but did not know why, so who knows. I still take Boron in a bath.
I am going to use boron water in my coffee and see what happens. I hope that works too, I know Epsom Salts in the coffee works and also the Iodine I put in it.

This is a reply to # 2,227,163I never noticed the correlation before, but have been putting 1/8th tsp of Borax in every gallon of water my mom and I drink and I have lost alot of weight.
However, I haven't been eating as much either.

This is a reply to # 2,228,149Things I would recommend to everyone - daily use of ACV and coconut oil, use of bone broth regularly, total and complete elimination of gluten from the diet, elimination or near elimination (depending on your triggers) of dairy, soy, factory farmed animal products, and processed foods, use of Iodine protocol, large reduction in Sugar consumption. What I would recommend to some - LDN (helped me a lot in the beginning, don't take it anymore), T3 only protocol (most do best on a T3/T4 combo in the form of pig glandulars, but I didn't. T3 only was a godsend and not often talked about). I also stay away from Antibiotics and putting chemicals on my skin or in my food. :)

I am thinking this is a missing link since I had suddenly gained 30 unwanted pounds & haven't been able to shed it.

Well, I hate to say it ... but I didn't see much difference, I probably didn't take it long enough though ... but after being in the Liver Flushing forum, I think my issue may be my liver and am going to do a flush tomorrow.
I didn't realize the liver had a connection to weight loss (I'm still new to being my own "physician") I'm learning so much here, I stay up till 2 and 3 in the morning just studying and reading people's testimonies.
Have you ever done a liver flush? I am praying this is an answer to seeing some weight loss. I did do a parasite cleanse and this has been a major turn around for me, I did see some changes from doing that.
