Some researchers from Harvard are said to have published a paper in the Journal of Urology in 1974 stating that adding (at least?) 300mg of magnesium oxide and 10mg of vitamin B6 will reduce the risk of recurrent calcium oxalate stones by 92.3% I found a reference to a 1967 paper in The America Journal of Clinical Nutrition that does indeed back up this idea (See citation below.)"

V says: Yep, look up solublity product of Mg oxalate vs. Ca oxalate, and find that the Mg salt is 500 times more soluble. kidney stones likely result from lack of magnesium. Remedy I use is small amount of mag chloride in water on empty stomach to run Mg ions thru the kidney which should take out a little bit off the surface of any kidney "stone" present. Done slowly over time, one would never notice

This is a reply to # 2,145,371Yes, insoluble calcium is a bigger problem, not vit C and oxalates in general that are usually blamed for it.
"One of magnesium's many jobs is to keep calcium in solution to prevent it from solidifying into crystals; even at times of dehydration, if there is sufficient magnesium, calcium will stay in solution. Magnesium is a pivotal treatment for kidney stones. If you don't have enough magnesium to help dissolve calcium, you will end up with various forms of calcification. This translates into stones, muscle spasms, fibrositis, fibromyalgia, and atherosclerosis (as in calcification of the arteries). "

1. Calcium phosphate stones are common and easily dissolve in urine acidified by vitamin C.

3. Magnesium ammonium phosphate (struvite) stones are much less common, often appearing after an infection. They dissolve in urine acidified by vitamin C.
4. Uric acid stones result from a problem metabolizing purines (the chemical base of adenine, xanthine, theobromine [in chocolate] and uric acid). They may form in a condition such as gout.
5. Cystine stones result from an hereditary inability to reabsorb cystine. Most children's stones are this type, and these are rare."

This is a reply to # 2,145,771I do a little mag in water each day, to slowly dissolve any stones I might or might not have. I once passed one that measures 5.5 mm diameter, 6 hours of intense pain, writhing on the bed. I saved it, pondering making costume jewelry and give it to someone and tell them it is a rare crystal

The opposite "snack" for the brain would be canola oil, when I learned this a few years ago I saved my eye sight.
A few others found out about it too;
"My cholesterol level was 150. After a year using Canola oil I tested 260. I switched back to pure olive oil and it has taken 5 years to get it down to 160. Thus began this project to find answers since most Doctors will say that Canola oil is O.K.
My sister spilled Canola oil on a piece of fabric, after 5 pre-treatings and harsh washings, the oil spot still showed. She stopped using Canola oil ,wondering what it did to our insides if it could not be removed from cloth easily.

This is a reply to # 2,145,386Rapeseed oil was re-named "Canola", to make it more palatable to the mind.
In nature, the rape plant's oil contains about 0.5% of Erucic acid content.
The Genetically-Modified-Organisms material sold in stores and used in most "restaurant" food has an Erucic content spec. of I believe 0.1%.
However, erucic acid is a cumulative neurotoxin.
In the past, the 0.5% material is not fit for human consumption, it is a poison, it rapes you.
Since its effects are cumulative, eating Genetically-Modified-Organisms rape with 0.1% is just as bad, because people are eating more than 5 times the amount they ever used to eat before.
The effects are insidious, may take up to 10 years to manifest as symptoms. By that time, few MD's will figure it out, most know nothing of this, and besides, their livelihood, pay for interest on loans, office space, etc. depends on them "treating" patients, not curing them.
