Curious as to what is recommended for these symptoms in young children?
What about bronchitis in babies?
Most people recommend antibiotics....blah...
To thin out the mucous keep the baby hydrated with water. For the cold and cough itself I recommend letting it run its course. You especially do not want to suppress the cough or the runny nose as these actions can contribute to infection. If there is a fever let is run also unless it goes above 102F, in which cool rags are recommended on the forehead, behind the neck and the chest and abdomen. If the fever goes above 105F then it would be a good idea to go to the hospital in case a seizure gets triggered off by the fever.
As for bronchitis in a baby I recommend a tea made by boiling pau d' arco with licorice root for 15 minutes then allow it to cool. This can be drunk throughout the day for the infection. This tea will address viral, bacterial and fungal bronchitis and would be safe for a baby.
