Pat,
TSH tells you nothing. Well, almost nothing that is.
If your doctor doesn't understand this, find another doctor.
TSH is the feedback loop. It can but probably doesn't tell you anything about your health.
Imagine your speedometer in your car. It is the feedback to the driver as to the vehicle's velocity. If you are driving on an icy road, is the reading on the speedometer reliable? NO. If the tire size isn't perfect, is the speedometer reading reliable? NO.
Human physiology is much more complex than an automobile and therefore there are many more things that can skew the validity of TSH readings.
You want to find out your Free T3 and Free T4. These are good indicators to how much hormone you have. But then how do you tell how well your body is using these hormones? If you have adrenal fatigue or other problems, your body can't use the hormones well, so the levels may be perfect yet you still have symptoms.
Study, study, study. Read, read, read.
There's a book called "stop the thyroid madness" that is a great overview. You can find it on amazon.
Dr. Brownstein (http://www.drbrownstein.com/) also has several really good books to start you on your path to knowledge.
All organic life forms should be on
Iodine supplementation. That is, any life forms having a thyroid (which excretes hormones based on iodine) and lives in an area where
Iodine has been depleted in the food chain (most areas).
I personally wouldn't worry about the green tea, especially if supplementing iodine.
How much
Iodine and how often is something you will have to determine for yourself.
