hi Bella, I've also found it to be wonderful. Ayurvedic practitioners have been using it for centuries. But it's best combined with good diet, cleansing activities, and not recommended as a method to purge the system from junk. The important thing is that you don't have anything before doing it: it's first thing in the morning. Reasons people have trouble with it, i believe: they may be chronically dehydrated;
may have been drinking *too much water*, OR are severely minerally-depleted--in which case they absorb the minerals in the
Sea Salt , or retain the whole solution.
I used it on day one of my 29 day water fast. It feels like a great beginning.
Three times throughout the fast, about evenly spaced, I had bowel movements spontaneously, without anything. I think the
SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) was good preparation for an unobstructed colon. It's a pretty interesting experience--a real flush. I find it quite energizing. All the liquid comes whooshing out--assuming there are not contraindications: one of these, i would imagine, might be obesity--which is a complex set of imbalances, where one might well notice nothing.
if it "doesn't work", that's a sign of some imbalance that needs addressing, as I already mentioned. The reason it's so good with the master cleanse, is that the body is daily being cleansed. It wouldn't ever be (responsibly) advised to do except as part of a real cleansing diet, and in the Ayurvedic tradition, probably for not longer than ten- or at most 21 days--followed up by some sound eating, and repopulating of the gut with probiotics (which we probably need to do as well after the water cleanse).
best,
Chiron
