I am suffering from severe heartburn from past 2.5 months.
to go back to history,
It all started with me having headache one night, I took ALEVE(the nasty tablets of all) and had hot cup of tea in the night thinking that I will have my dinner in short while.
I did have little allergic reaction sometime back when I took Aleve but did not this time it would be nightmare. When I had last time, I ate banana and I was perfectly fine next day.
I never had a single incidence of heartburn but did felt acidic when ate some fried or sweets stuff like that. In any case I avoided these for the reason I am being diabetic for a year or so and follow strict diet with lot of fiber, fish and more of lentils. I could maintain my
Sugar alone on diet and exercise. I don’t eat red meat or whatsoever from childhood.
As this happened that night when I took Aleve, I got up in the midnight with shooting pain in chest and stomach. I had severe in-digestion, gas, bloating and burning sensation in chest whole night.
I am totally against of going to the doctor and taking any non-sense anta-acids I tried to eat soft and bland foods for two weeks after the incidence but no use. Finally I had to go the doctor. He asked me to do endoscopy and reports revealed that I had eosophagitis and stomach in-flammation but negative for H. Plori (in just one Aleve??). As the inflammation was mild per doctor’s input based on the reports. He said he can give me Nexium but it is not so good.
I tried all but have no clue why it is not working, all my home folks are saying that I should take Nexium to heal the esophagus and stomach. Definitely symptoms are not that bad but they still exist…
My questions,
1) What is wrong in my diet?
2) Why my esophagus is not healing?
3) I tried complete bland diet as follows,
Being diabetic, early morning three glasses of water(tap water purified using brita filter).
One pint of whole leaf aloe vera juice + carrot juice.
Cooked Oatmeal with 2% milk
After an hour One banana
Almonds in between,
Active Manuka honey in between meals.
My diet included pretty much same boring stuff for two months Spinach soup, mood lentil curry, white squash, cucumber, goat milk,goat yogurt(as somebody said cow’s milk & products are not good), mangoes, papaya(as it is good for digestion),pear,apples,quinoa,brown rice, broccoli.
After lot of re-search on my own and spending on those fraud advertisement for curing acid-reflux reports online, all I came to know that honey can cure and red delicious apple.
But this did NOT work for me apart from reducing the symptoms.
4) I stopped eating non-veg(fish, eggs) at all.
5) I stopped taking vitamin C tablets or my multi-vitamin as for some reason I would feel symptoms increase on having these Vitamin tablets.(??)
6) I again did lot of re-search and started chewng DGL licorice, acid base tablets with slippery elm and marshmellos with lipase,amylase from plants and rice bran tablets.
I still get chest burning and heavy feeling when I eat. I am ok when I don’t eat. I also have probiotic at times as I cant carry with me whole day as refrigerated bottle is difficult to carry around so cant have as much as I wish and told by someone to have it after every meal.
7) my friends are scaring me that if I don’t cure my eosophagitis(even though it is mild now), and take Nexium, I will have serious complications later. Is it true??
8) Please suggest where I am going wrong or why my inflammation is not getting cured??
9) Am I missing something?
10) is my diet wrong?
11) why I feel more lethargic and tired lately. I used to be very active and work-out daily but I don’t feel like doing it and not doing since this happened. Surprisingly I have put on 1 5
pounds all of a sudden on above diet. Why???
12) lastly,should I take Nexium?
Sorry for my longest post…………. But you can imagine how frustrated I am and feel so depressed all the time. Hoping someone from this forum would help.
