I have had a cyst on my face that started growing 6yrs ago. It started as a small pimple & grew slowly over the past 6yrs. the last couple yrs i have become really self consious about it. people stare @ it wherever i go. i knew it was a sebaceous cyst because my brother had one. i am self employed, have no insurance & really couldnt afford to have it surgically removed. over the past yr i have tried heat packs & needles to drain it myself, nothing worked & it seemed to get larger. i read this forum on the use of castor oil, started using it 2 days ago. Not only did look a tiny bit smaller already, a little white head formed today & i was able to remove some of the disguisting, cheese like material!!!! will keep you guys updated!!!!
I have sebacious cysts as well...and I'm going to try using Castor Oil as well..I'm lucky in that I don't have them on my face but I do have them in my scalp, back and below the belt. They don't hurt but they are an annoyance, I go to the dermotologist and he cuts and drains them and they rarely comeback..but, I want to give this a try....I'll keep everyone updated as well.
Hi........I'm just curious of what results you've had with the castor oil. I've started doing castor oil packs on my abdomen for 30 minutes a day, as well as rubbing it directly on my cyst (on my chin).
I've consulted with a naturopath who has me on a certain restrictive diet for 4 weeks, homeopathic drops and a skin clearing tea. I'm also doing dry brushing and alternating hot and cold washcloths on my cyst once a day.
I pray that this makes my cyst disappear! I've had it for about 3 years. Although it's not very big, it has grown in size and another one seems to be forming right above it. I'm so self-conscience about it that I think everyone stares at it. I swear it's affected my quality of life!!
I'm not sure what's in the tea - she justs makes it up in a little baggie. I know it has spearmint in it though. The homeopathic drops are Unda 49 - but she adds another ingredient in it which aids the skin.
As far as diet, I'm eliminating beef, pork, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, sugar, alcohol, citrus fruits and white products (rice, flour, pasta), processed foods and all dairy products. I've been advised to also take 2 tsps of rice vinegar daily, eat tons of vegetables and drink at least 64 oz of water.
To do a castor oil pack, saturate a 1 ft x 1 ft piece of flannel with cold pressed castor oil. Place on abdomen, wrap with plastic wrap and tensor bandage. Apply heat pack for 30 minutes. If you do a google search on "castor oil pack", there's a ton of info on the net about this, including the fact that they aid in treating sebaceous cysts.
I've been alternating hot and cold washcloths (3 min hot, 30 seconds cold 3x) and then rubbing castor oil right in the cyst.
After my shower, I do a cold water rinse (which I hate!) and then do dry brushing on my entire body. I'm supposed to keep this up daily for at least a month. It's only been 3 days so far and, I'll tell you, this takes major dedication, especially with a 6 month old baby! But I'm doing it.....I'll do anything to avoid surgery. I just hope it works........
This advice is coming from a naturopath who has helped me dramatically in the past. It cost me $150 to get this advice.....I'm passing it on to you in hopes that it will help you to.
Thank you! now that really does take dedication to do! I'll take a look into it all and try it! Hey you never know and if it works its that much better because I hate getting cut up to drain the cysts. So far I have to say, the big one's that I did get cut open never returned but some smaller ones have....I have a good pain threshold that it doesn't bother me but, if I can avoid getting cut, its even better! Again, thanks for the help and the advice. Please post how it turns out after a month...I'd love to know.
Yeah, I'll keep you posted along the way. If you have any success, let me know as well. Another suggestion I forgot to mention was to eat fish (salmon, halibut) 3-4 times a week. All of this is supposed to improve lymphatc circulation, so your body is able to get rid of the blockages (cysts). It makes sense. Might take awhile though.
Pretty interesting theory on lymphatic circulation...I would think its more hormonal and because of this the body produces more oil than it can get rid of and thus the clogged pours and the sebaceous cysts or cysts for that matter (acne as well to those that have acne).
I actually tried accutane and while it didn't clear the cysts (it doesn't work on these types) it did slow down my oil production and I went 2 years without getting new ones. But, as of late, I've been feeling a lot more oily and a few smaller ones have been sprouting up.
I have a feeling the key is to drink water (something I definitly don't do enough of). Its a natural cleanser....
I hope this works for you!!! If it does, that would be great!
