Water Fasting Aborted by athina .....

The detox of a water fast is the most powerful thing I've ever experienced, even if it was for 36 hours.

36 hours into my water fast was enough to convince me that I'm not able to take such a drastic step at this time. I was feeling faint and wanted to pass out most of the time - and almost experienced a blackout at the supermarket. I attributed this to the fact that I still have some excess weight, and the associated toxins caused a massive rush that I couldn't handle.

Better wait until I'm at my ideal weight before trying something like that again. The true deep cleansing of a water fast, in my opinion, shouldn't be hampered by layers of fat and toxins which interfere with the detox process. I also think it's important to have quit smoking for a few months before trying it, just to make sure that the body is as clean as possible before starting.

The detox of a water fast is the most powerful thing I've ever experienced, even if it was for 36 hours. I can see how this can be very beneficial. I'm worried however at the overweight/obese people who are water fasting, particularly of their mineral reserves. People don't become overweight by eating healthy nutrient-enriched food - so I'm sure that many are severely putting their health at risk by fasting away what's left of their healthy constitution. I recently read of an obese man who was fasted by his doctor and died after eight months - with plenty of weight left to lose.

I myself basically lived on a diet of nutrient-rich vegetables, fruits and lean protein sources - that's what gave me the courage to attempt this fast. And now I'm looking forward to when I can do it again - in six months time. I've been tweaking a diet rich in everything necessary for good health that I will faithfully follow post-fast, in order to build up my reserves and fast safely once more.

For the remainder of my fast, I will spend the next three days drinking juice, followed by 5 days of drinking/eating a veggie broth with soft vegetables like tomatoes, zucchini, finely chopped spinach and leeks. That would bring a total of 30 detox days - but I don't think the detox will stop there as I plan to continue detoxing via a healthy diet for many months to come.
