Exercise During Fast?

Date:   11/2/2006 10:51:06 AM ( 18 y ago)

I've been a distance runner in the past. For a couple years I ran three times a week and 7 miles every Sunday. However, I've decided that I'm saving any running or lifting for after the fast. I live in a major city and I have this excellent 6 mile walk that is essentially through the city to the river and back. The best part of the walk is that there is a whole foods at the two mile mark (to and from). Last night I brought a backpack and loaded up on some of my juicing fruits and veggies. I'm going to try to make it a daily walk and pick up fruits and veggies each time, trying to stay a few days ahead each time.

When I'm starting major lifestyle change, I've had the most success when the routine was tight. These daily walks would be a wonderful part of the routine. The bad part would be BM's and whether I could predict regularity and not have any emergencies during my walk. I guess we'll see. At the worst though, I'm only a 5 minute cab ride from home, so, I still think I could overcome it.

There is something comforting about the walk. It does go past a lot of places to eat (smells), but besides that, it is a nice walk. You are tired when you are done, but while you are doing it, it is nothing but thinking time. It is theraputic to me and to get through the fast period, I don't really need the extra stress of a workout. I like the soothing predictability of the walk.
