Conjunctivitis Bloodshot Eyes Retinopathy Cataracts Glaucoma

The eyes are 2 of the most complicated organs in the human body. They are a very important part of our day to day life and there are several conditions that can affect the eyes, we all have experience at one time or another some type of eye problem, irritation, dryness, red eye, or some more serious conditions like cataract or blindness.

Although most of the times eye problems are localized or within the eye itself, some others, the eyes reflect diseases elsewhere in the body; for example blur vision can be a sign of diabetes, yellow eyes can be a clue to hepatitis or a remarked difference in the pupil's size can indicate that a tumor is developing somewhere in the body.

Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis or "pink eye" is an inflammation of the conjunctiva the membrane that covers the whole eyeball and the inside of the eyelids. The symptoms of conjunctivitis are redness, eye pain, burning, blur vision, feeling of dryness and discharge of a sticky fluid.

Conjunctivitis is very contagious wash your hands and do not touch the affected area.

We recommend

Mix 2 tsp. chamomile flowers.
1 tsp. Oregon grape root.
2 cups of boiling water.
Let it sit for 20 minutes, cool, strain and use an eyewash.

Use calendula in bacterial or viral conjunctivitis to reduce itching and inflammation, heal and soothe. It's an antiseptic perfect for irritation due to pollutants and allergies. Use it as a local compress and eyewash. It is available in eye drops as well.

Use a lotion made out of Vitamin A and apply it directly.

If the eye is swollen, peel a potato and cut it in thin slices place them on eyes affected by conjunctivitis.

Bloodshot eyes

Bloodshot eyes is a condition that develops when the small blood vessels that we see on the surface of the eye become inflamed with too much blood cause by insufficient oxygen to the cornea.

If overwhelmed with fatigue, eyestrain, alcohol consumption, insufficient Vitamin B2 and B6 or high blood pressure is when bloodshot eyes may appear. however if all of these conditions are manage bloodshot eyes should disappear.

Vitamin A is very necessary for a healthy vision.

Eat spinach and take Lutein or spinach extract Contains carotenoid needed for retina and eye tissue.

Take a Vitamin B complex about 100 mg. of each B vitamin 3 times a day. It’s been shown that B vitamin deficiency leads to bloodshot eyes.


Cataracts


Cataracts are a clouding of the eye lens that causes blur vision, inability to focus and is progressive and painless. The cataract becomes thicker with time until it blinds the eye, this is the number one cause of blindness in the world.

The most common type of cataracts is senile cataracts which means that affects people 65 and older. This type of cataract is cause by free radicals that damage the lens.




We recommend

Mix 1 cup of rose petals.
4 tbsp. of raspberry leaves.
4 cups of boiling water.
Let the ingredients rest for 30 minutes, strain and use as eye wash.

Diabetes can cause retinopathy, this condition develops when tinny blood vessels connected to the retina begin to leak, than more blood vessels grow in the affected area causing vision problems and blindness in thousands of people suffering diabetes.

Since this diseases causes no symptoms in the beginning therefor it is very hard to diagnose until the condition is advanced.
