The Goddess Is Alive by greggechols .....

We have been taught that the idea of the Goddess is an artifact of the ancient past; an image of days gone by that is no longer related to our modern world. This is the most erroneous belief we have in this culture today. The Goddess is alive and well!

The Goddess is in everyone, not just every woman; this means every man and woman.

All humanity, all creation, all matter is feminine. Anything formed is the body of the Goddess—whether a fish, a stone, a planet. (Graciela Damewood, The Soul of Healing: An Autobiography, p. 91)

We have relegated the feminine into a place of subservience, of darkness, of sin, probably out of mankind’s fear of the unknown. The Goddess energy is alive in each and every one of us, although our consciousness of it might be quite dim. We have the most amazing creative power within us, given to us by our maker through this feminine energy.

It must be feminine, especially since the creative energy itself is feminine! So who do you think our creator must be? That’s a question for each individual to ponder, outside of any established order.

The psychologist C. G. Jung worked extensively with the idea that the male and female energies exist in each of our psyches, whether we are male or female. In the male, the feminine energy exists in the form of the anima, while in females the male energy exists as the animus. These tend to be unconscious processes, but they are reflected in the way we relate to members of the opposite sex.

Yet, the idea of the feminine energy in each of us being that of the Goddess energy is certainly not an idea or concept that is broached during analytical psychology conferences. Ancient cultures respected and honored this Goddess-oriented relationship to the world, living creatures, and elemental members of the world community. Everything was seen as alive, full of vitality and intelligence. The planet was Gaia, a manifestation of the Goddess energy.

It is through the Goddess energy that creation springs, and it is the male energy that moves that creative energy into action and form. Shamans and healers derived their powers from this source, and cultures such as the Mayans were led by this energy. Working with moon energies was a representation of the Goddess.

We have yet to fully understand this source, and perhaps the coming ages will give us a better understanding of how this creative energy truly works in our lives. It is quite possible we will develop a more realistic and accurate world view as this understanding grows around us.
