The Mad Divine Scientist of Life

Date:   5/21/2005 10:46:59 AM ( 19 y ago)

A dive, but a FUN dive. I remember how much I liked neighborhood dives when I frequented bars. My old buddy, Dean, turned me on to neighborhood bars. Up till then I had only frequented upscale restaurants ("meatmarkets") Dean introduced me to the low lit, pool tabled, scuffed dance floored, live music bars of North Costal County. Dean, is now an ex-pat in a small Central American Country-and will not be coming back to the US anytime soon~but that is another story.

Back to last night (I miss Dean!); The band called "blue" had a Dave Matthew sound, had 2 good musicians and 2 others that were average in inspiration. The Lyrics were original, "The Metaphor" was an great song. I give it a 2 for danceability and a 4 for content-how did they judge a 'track' on "Bandstand"?

Anyway, I am scattered here~ not enough sleep, the pleasure of the evening was meeting my buddies friends, all very positive with happy outlooks on life. One, a high school English teacher, spoke of the fulfillment the kids gave~and had nothing but positive comments about teaching high school kids. Cool! It was heartfelt, not just yada, yada blab, blab! I was impressed and decided that was an English teacher I would've have appreciated.

There was an attitude of hope, and goodness, and that good will "will out". I liked them. They had faith in their own abilities and those of others. Isn't that how it works? I can't claim for myself that which I am not able to attribute to others. I can't condemn and judge others unless I am condemning and judging myself.

The magic of attraction is a two-edged sword. Life is about you. If you cannot imagine it, you cannot create it. Anything you see out there in some "other", has sprung up from your own feelings of yourself. UGH! and Hooray! Depends on the day, and the feeling, eh?

This group of friends has know each other since high school, have all lived with each other at some time in history and love each other. I am happy I came to O'Connell and hear The Band Blue play their set. Generally, I am just happy lately.

And although I love my old bar hopping buddy Dean, on the whole, this group seemed more positive and balanced than our excursions into the "dark side". I'm beginning to have the pleasure of seeing my life as a form of contrasts and Lord knows I've earned all my "contrasts" by diligent pursual of extremes.

I am the mad scientist of my life......Time to get to my P.O. box and see what the US Postal Service has decided to bless me with today! I think I'll read a few chapters in one of my books, before I venture out into the world.
