Volkswagen Mafioso Dealerships by munificent .....

German Mafioso wants Drivers...And they mean business! Has anyone tried to turn in a leased vehicle to Volkswagen?

I have had a leased VW for 4 years and a month. I have been trying to give them back their car. Apparently no one wants it back. I don't know , it occurs to me that I ought to just take a quick trip to Mexico and have the car "remodeled" down there and sell it.

2 months before the lease came due, the cat converter went out -after 3 weeks of dicking around with VW-OH and BTW, 2 of those weeks were spent without a rental car-and the other week was at my expense! SouthBay VW, located in San Diego, Ca, refused to admit anything was wrong with the car.

My own mechanic told me the cat was shot, to tow it to Southbay VW, and have them replace it. For you non-Californians we are not allowed to buy aftermarket cat's. We must purchase the part from WW-$1200 a piece. IF YOU can FIND one. And this is the crux of the story! Actually I miswrote-Lack of VW customer service is the crux of the story-the never ending story!

After the check engine light was on for the 2nd time, I was told there cat converters were back ordered with no ETA on them. I called VW of America and they agreed to check inventory within 72 hours-never happened. After 2 weeks and several calls initiated by me I still had no answer.

So I was told to drive the car with the "check engine" light on by Southbay Volkswagen, and if it started blinking then it was time to pull over. My mechanic said Do Not-if the blinking starts you have ruined you engine and they will say it is your fault because you drove the car with the check engine light on-The manual expressly, Germanly sternly advises no driving if the light comes on. Apparently the dealerships have a different manual they use. It's called, we don't give a shit-manual. After dicking around with the idiots at Southbay and their counterpart at VW of America customer service- I called the California Air Resources Board, and decided their legislation was hampering me from fixing my car.

They are the ones that decreed only VW converters could be used (more precious metals in VW maufactured cats than aftermarket brands-Actually more precious metals VW's pockets) After several false starts, they checked inventory and called Southbay Volkswagen with my situation, to which (after 3 weeks) Natasha Rappaport and Max the service manager replied "Oh we were just waiting for her to bring it back in". Like Hell they were.

But one important point about the air resources board they make note of dealerships that do not want to fix under warranty-as was the case with this fiasco. They fixed it under warranty. But they resented every bit of service they gave and gave me my car back on below empty-warning that the check engine light would likely go on again due to zero "fuel balance". The Mexican Mafia right here on your doorstep. Gracias! Butt Face!

Volkswagen of America did nothing but cover for this ploy of nastiness and cheatery. They do not care about the customer, apparently they are waiting for China to open up and then they won't need U.S. customers.

So now the lease is up and since I will not go back to the Southbay Mafiosos, I took the car to Metro Volkswagen, also located in San Diego to turn it in. There was no one there to speak to-I had to go home with the car. Upon arriving home I got a call from the Metro Salesmanager that if the car was not leased there they could not accept a turn in. What? yes they only service their own customers. Well, that's better than Southbay-they don't even service their own customers! (At least not willingly)

So I call City VW, in San Diego, Ca and set up an appointment with David to drop my car off-We go through the ins and outs of the contract what needs to be done what does not. I arrange a ride with my buddy, "the mad glass artist" (that's another story) to take me home after I turn in the car. Turns out David isn't there and has not cancelled the appointment with me. Meanwhile the "mad glass artist" has scheduling problems and now cannot make the original later time and only has NOW to do it.

Josh, a salesman at City Volkswagen at San Diego, wants to start from scratch with all the details. I have no time for this now- Mad glass artist schedule does not allow for such luxury. I go home and give up. It's clear the do not want this car back. I think a trip to Mexico is in order-yes yes....I do think so.

Anyone want to buy a used 2001 VW with a new cat converter? Meet me in Mexico-we'll drink Tequila shooters to seal the deal. Ahhh, much better! Muy Bueno, donkey!
