The Precession, the Galactic Alignment, is an actual astronomical event. This is an introduction.

   Happy Precession Everyone!! It is a monumental anniversary if only because we are marking out a period of about 26,000 years... this must be the end/start of the longest cycle anyone alive now will ever be around for.

   It IS true, there is an actual significance to Dec 21, 2012.

  What is going on IN REALITY this Dec. 21st., of the year 2012, is an actual astronomical event.

  The ASTRONOMERS are not actually certain that 2012 is the exact year when this cycle begins again, but what they do know that as our solar system wobbles and the earth wobbles that an imaginary line drawn through the two poles of Planet Earth, pointing North,  will be pointing at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy where there exists a long line of darkness known as the "Dark Rift".

  So, as they say - "When the solstice meridian passes through the Galactic Equator"....

  As for the periodicty, here are a few things that suggest the 25,810 years, or 25,920 years, or about 26,000 years:

 -  "In our galaxy there is a giant wheel revolving - we are actually on a slow wobble and the stars are just appearing to revolve. This "precession of the equinoxes" takes 25,800 years to complete one cycle, and within this cycle we can observe conjunctions in the heavens between the stars and our solar system.

 - the "Precession" is said to take 26,000 years - to do with the Earth's "Wobble on the North-South Axis"

 - The idea of the Earth orbit "delayed" 1 degree of the circle [the circle described in the wobble of the Earth with a line drawn from pole to pole] every 72 years [72 X 360o = 25,920 years];

 - The Age of Aquarius [ 2160 years per House X 12 Houses = 25,920 years] Astronomers call this the "Zero Point to the Precessional Cycle"

 - the Pyramids indication of 25,810 years {4110 "pyramid inches" - the "pyramid inch" being the basic unit of measure used by the Egyptians - is prominent in various dimensions of the Great Pyramid; Take 4110 X 2 X Pi = 25,810 and that is just WAY too accurate to be some kind of a coincidence.

 - and even in the Bible, in Revalations, in a way: the Mark of the Beast being 666, so take 6 X 6 X 6 = 216, which is sort of, kinda, 2160, and of course 2160 X 12 Houses of Astrology = 25,920

 As for the Mayans, they knew stuff. So did the ancient Pyramid builders. We might wonder how...

  The Mayan calendar is the main one that points to 2012 being the year this great cycle starts all over again:
   "The Mayan calendar began the Great Cycle in 3114 B.C and will end on 21 December 2012 AD in their 5,125 year calendar. Mayan Elder Leonzo Barreno says the next cycle is "The Fifth Sun" and there is a whole lot more to say about that.... but for another post ok?

  Yup, we are only a few days away now, although in reality we are about as close as we will get, this year, or this time next year.

  It takes 71 years to move just one degree of the whole "wobble", as in one degree of 360 degrees, so its not like anything sudden is taking place.  Really - by this time next winter solstice we will be in nearly the exact same position as we are this winter, and as we were last year.

 This post was just to introduce the astronomical significance; There is a lot more to it, and hopefully I will be able to post on the ethereal matters before the big day.
