I have to tell someone... by Karlin .....

Abuse and torture under our noses

Next time you are feeling scorn for the miserable wreck of a human with sores on their body, obviously a drug addict, barely alive it seems... but they have been this way for a few years, how do they manage to stay alive you wonder.

When you want to either look away or give a grunt of disgust...

Think of what they might have been through. The tortures that are meted out by people upon other people would make you look away. I cannot believe they make movies of this stuff, or that people go watch them for ENTERTAINMENT. Its gross, its disgusting, I loathe the human race sometimes.... and not just the brutal torturers, I loathe those who would play it down, those who stand aside and let it happen over and over.'

I know some victims. I live between two worlds, where I appear to be okay and I have a nice family and I got an education and all that... but chronic illness has introduced me to morphine and that is how I got to know some of the addicts...the victims of brutalities visited upon them by monsters.

These "down and out" ones have stories to curl your hair... a little girl being tortured, a guy who was not just sexually abused by his father but "horribly sexually abused" meaning the sex was violent, aggressive, meant to inflict pain...

We hear a few news stories where torture was mentioned, but we don't have to imagine the details..

The monsters themselves were, most times, also victims at one point... this is a cycle we can do something about, but now if we ignore it.

And that is just HERE, in the western world, the developed world - its much worse "over there".

We do ignore it. It isn't comfortable for us. I myself can only take so much...

This goes on "right next door", you never know. It is more common than you might think.

Not every addict has been through that, and not every victim is an addict, but believe me drug addiction is the smallest of their problems.

Imagine it - Alone and afraid, so terrified. You called, you cried, nobody could hear you.

Helpless to get away, the pain... never ends for them.
