Day 6 of my fast. I have decided to go with almost only water. It seems easier for my body to just be in a state of rest.

Today was a wonderful day. I woke up at a little after six, shoveled a 10 foot walk of 4 foot deep snow that was in my yard this morning. I then did an overhaul of my kitchen. It sparkles now. I got in and cleaned the underneath of the stove, you know when you lift the entire stove top up, how gross that gets after a month or two? It's nice and shiny now =). I then proceeded to make a huge lunch for my family, with no desire to eat it. I won't mention what it was, but it was incredibly aromatic, and smelled super yummy, but I didn't even want any! Just wanted to cook a good meal for them. Then I took a bath and a nap for two hours! It was like this crazy desire to work my body came over me. It was fantastic!

I'm also very introspective, more so each day of fasting. Very much more aware of God's presence, which I've needed for a while. My life has just gotten so busy, I need to focus on Him again for true joy and peace.

So, needless to say, I've had a great energy level today. My stomach is still growling, but my appetite is gone. I think that when your stomach growls, it must simply be a physiological result of the stomach being empty, but not necessarily in need of food. Maybe it just makes that distinct sound because the acid being produced has no job to do, it's not hitting food, so it just sloshes around in there? The reason I say this is that whenever my stomach growls, fasting or not, I'm never really in the 'mood' for anything in-particular. It is when my salivary glands really begin producing, that I get a distinct desire for a certain food (and it's generally not for Cheetoes, when I truly allow myself to get to this stage of appetite), usually whatever my body needs the moment, maybe plain brown rice, a piece if fruit, raw carrots or some red bell pepper, etc.

Anyway, I have to have a couple of ounces of juice tonight (probably carrot, we'll see), maybe four or so, because of my medicine (no, I don't feel comfortable trying to stop taking it altogether, not quite yet), but I'm still calling this a water fast. Oh yeah, and I am having a cup or two of coffee, it's a great stimulant for the bowels, no laxatives for me!!
