It wasn't a great week but I'm not discouraged.

My week 5 weigh-in produced less than stellar results, especially compared to the first four weeks. No worries however as I am in no way discouraged or about to give up. I'm pressing on as I have a goal to meet. I have revaluated my caloric intake. My portion sizes, especially for my protein have been far too large, adding perhaps as much as 500 additional calories a day. I've been using a digital scale for everything else, especially my starchy carbs, so it's time I started to ensure I'm getting about a four-ounce portion of protein with each meal. I'm currently cycling, which is to say I have three days of 2200 calories with no starchy carbs with meals 4-6, and then on the fourth day I have the starchy carbs with all six meals. This is a way of fooling my body and keeping it from triggering the "survival response," something I already wrote about in an earlier blog. I'm still doing an hour of cardio a day, but I have started to up the intensity level as the fat drops off and my body grows more accustomed to the workout. I am still in the gym four days a week for weight training and am starting to see some definition. It's a great motivator to keep pushing on. Anyway, below are the results.
