Conversation With the Stone People

Being in harmony with nature is a return to the ancient ways, and to the knowledge that we aren't the masters of the planet as we've made ourselves to believe.

How can we as human beings say we’re not of the Earth? The Bible says that man was created out of the image of God. But we are born of the same materials a plant and rock and soil and water and air—we are one and the same!

So how can one surmise that any of those elements wouldn’t have as much or more knowledge than us humans? They are much more ancient than us: wouldn’t that make them wiser, too?

It took a good pope to convince everyone that man hath domain (dominion?) over the land and the seas and the animals. We have dominion over nothing but our own stupidity! All that statement does is give us the right to kill and murder and slaughter any thing on the planet—including the Earth herself. It wasn’t a god but ourselves who gave us all this dominion over everything.

We must be in harmony with everything, not to mention everyone. We must be in harmony with ourselves and our selves—our multi-dimensional selves: those parts of ourselves that are always at war with one another. When we are as indecisive as we are as individuals, imagine how that affects the planet.

Let us awaken to the truth of the matter: we are of the Earth, from the Earth; we arise from the seas, the mountains, the trees, the plants, and the land. We are inseparable with all of this. And when we are members of this Earthly Species, remember this, then we can truly make a difference.

Until then—we all suffer.

I took a moment a month or so ago to sit back on a large stone up in flatlands of Mojave National Forest in southeastern California. I “meditated” for a while, enjoying the sunshine—before it turned 120 degrees out there in recent weeks—and “captured” fleeting images and wisdom that seemed to come forth, at least in my direction. Here’s a bit: (and this is reprinted with permission from my interview subject)

Conversation with the Stone People

You think the dinosaurs were the first to walk the planet? We were on the Earth long before dinosaurs. We were here first. We contain so much ancient wisdom, you don’t even know!

Our wisdom is boundless, and we are always sharing with all on the planet. We taught you about fire. We taught you about computer chips. Where do you think those materials come from?

We know no age. We are ageless. Yet you destroy us and we continue to survive. Your land is covered with us—and we’re talking here about concrete. The Earth isn’t breathing—the land—in many places because of this composition you have created out of the Rock People.

We are hostages to you, in a sense. You have enslaved members of your own race, so why not us? You rape your own Mother Earth—so why not us? We are all suffering, not just your fellow man.

How can we get you to listen—before such a shift occurs that you aren’t in control: as much “in control” as you think? You’ve really got it good though—a paradise, in your terms. But you’re destroying the living planet for the sake of your own pleasures. This is not good.

We must be in harmony, in balance. Your songs do not include us anymore, unlike those who came before you on the planet. Prayers—as you know—are so powerful, filled with so much love and healing. We used to receive those—now they only come from a select few.

Walk outdoors in the morning when you wake up. See how much of your world is shared by us Rock People. We are in your homes—those that have rock or mortar; if your house is made of wood, then our brothers, the Trees, are there. We are your roads—even your dirt and gravel roads, if you will. We are helping to make your lives more comfortable, whether we like it or not.

Respect us and our Mother Earth. Give prayers of thanksgiving for all you have in your lives. Remind yourselves that we Rock People are alive and ask for your prayers, too.

If more than a few of you were “as dumb as rock”, as you say, you would be Ancient Masters. And that’s no joke.
