It was...there are no words! The photographs were...! and the films, the films, were...!!! I was there for over 2 hours, and felt energy "chills" going up and down my spine while I was there. Two friends standing in line to get in as I was leaving asked me how it was and I just said, "well, uh, well, uh...it was...!" I couldn't talk, it was mind-blowingly beautiful and spiritual.

From the brochure: "Gregory Colbert has used still and movie cameras to explore extraordinary interactions between humans and animals. The film aims to lift the natural and artificial barriers between human and other species, dissolving the distance that exists between them, without imposing a style. Colbert chose to film animals in their native habitat in an effort to be true to each animals' voice and create a film that can be viewed both as a work of art and a poetic field study."

From my Guides: "Yes, the one known as Gregory Colbert is a man of great vision embued with Spirit and an open, loving heart. He is able to distill the essence of a moment down/into a photographic expression. He is but one of many on your lovely planet to 'See' with a different mind's eye than most. He is blessed."

Southern Californians: A traveling exhibition of Colbert's works is currently showing at the Santa Monica pier in the special Nomadic Museum, designed by architect Shigeru Ban. The museum is constructed from 152 steel cargo containers and other recyclable and reusable materials.

The last day for the exhibition in Santa Monica is Mother's Day May 14!  After this, the exhibition travels to Tokyo, Japan, so see it while it's in the L.A. area! Expect a wait of around one hour to get in, but it is well worth it!

Sunday 11 am -8 pm

Cost: $15.00 adults

Parking at the pier for $7.00, or park on Colorado Ave. for free parking at a metered space (free on Sundays)

Location: 2 blocks South of Santa Monica Blvd, corner of Ocean Ave. & Colorado Ave. at Santa Monica Pier. Get to the parking lot from PCH.

If you can't make it to the exhibit, or even if you can, view the fantastic website at: http://www.ashesandsnow.org/
