I AM Warrior Woman
I sent my blog "Katrina: Racism?" out as an e-mail and received a reply from someone that basically said "do not send out blame for this disaster. Focus on what went right. Send positive messages out into the world." This irritated me greatly.
Date: 9/5/2005 2:51:06 AM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 2425 times I was so irritated, I immediately deleted the e-mail. I was so irritated, I shouted in my car, with the windows rolled up, as I am wont to do when angry, yelling that I did not want to blame, but I wanted accountability for this disaster. I screamed that I am sick of this New Age b.s. of emotion-deny-ers, those who profess to be calm and serene no matter what the situation, those with their Holier-Than-Thou attitudes and their All-Knowing airs. I was so irritated, I could not sleep. I was so irritated, I got up at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning and wrote the following in my journal:
I will not be stifled.
I will not remain silent.
I will not heed when told I am wrong.
For I am Warrior Woman of the Shield
I will hold my God-given sword of righteousness.
I will hold it up high.
I will shine with God's Light and God's Holy Love.
I will wield my sword in protection of the sick, the weak, the poor, the young.
For I am Warrior Woman of the Shield
I am a Spiritual BEing having a very human experience.
I am experiencing joy, love, desire, passion, anger, fear, rage, disdain
I will not deny my feelings.
I will not be made wrong for feeling my feelings.
I will feel my anger burn. I will nurture it, blowing on its flames, until it burns bright with indignation, righteousness and Power.
For I am Warrior Woman of the Shield.
I will not sit upon my meditation cushion, passive, and pray for peace, love, and understanding.
I will let someone else do that.
I will not "turn the other cheek."
I will not "bless my enemies."
I will, instead, confront the wrong-doers as Jesus the Christ confronted the money-lenders in the Temple.
For I am Warrior Woman of the Shield.
I am filled with Fire and Fury.
My hair is as wild as Medussa's.
My voice is raised for all to hear.
My arms are holding aloft Shield and Sword.
My breasts are full and flowing.
My belly is soft and round.
My thighs are thick as tree-trunks.
My feet are rooted in the Mother's soil.
For I AM Warrior Woman of the Shield
and I WILL speak my Truth and be heard!
