GREEN MATERIALS
for the CURBSIDE GREEN RECYLCING PROGRAM
is every TWO WEEKS.

Every Friday morning around 7 AM-8AM
we have a date with Stewart who drives the
Environonmental Green Curbside Recycling Truck.

A couple Christmas ago, I made a point of
finding out the kind of six pack he likes
and went to Von's to get it to him.

We have a big load of Green MATERIALS and it is going to
get bigger this summer.

We are beginning The Great Earth Cleanup.

This morning was Week ONE Summer Pickup.

There is a lot ot learn to get this right.

I hope this information helps.

PICKUP and WHAT GOES OUT WHEN

Green Materials in the 24 gallon cans go out
every other week. They need to be on the street
Thursday night. The pickup is between 7-8 AM on Friday.

Note. The goal this summer is to have all 16 Cans
filled every 14 days and for this mulch materials to leave
the property until a time when we can utilitize more
of this materials on site.

The Black cans go out every week.
These are picked up on Fridays around 11 AM.

They are best put out regularly on Thursday night.

BLUE RECLYCLE BINS

All this material in these bins need to be clean.
Glass needs to be washed.

Blown bags and boxes go in the recycled blue bins.
Boxes are best broken down before putting in the blue bins.

PLASTIC BAGS

Plastic bags are best used for reuse, not recycled.
Some recycle places may take plastic bags...this needs
to be looked into. The city does not.

{We will establish a place for them...Follow Up...]

BRINGING IN THE BINS and CANS

This needs to happen Fridays after pickup.

NOTE: IN CASE OF HOLIDAYS-

Pickup is on Saturday.

GREEN CURBSIDE RECYCLING

We currently have 16 green/other color "24 gallon cans"
on the property. These are the cans that have removable tops
but the tops are not taken to the street.

One of these green and other colored cans is used
for rainwater collection during winter, however,
they are intended all be filled and emptied with Green
materials that can be recycled.

Please do not use these cans for storage of
Green waste or burnable materials.

Please do not leave them on various parts
of the grounds...(I almost felt like saying Campus.
or learning center).

Please do not leave the 24 gallon green and other
cans in the garden area, or other areas.

TAKING OUT THE CANS, BLACK BINS,
and BUE RECYLE BINS is a WEEKLY UPKEEP.

Taking out the cans is part of Everyday and Weekend Cleanup.
This is part of what we all do because we live here.
Taking out the cans is not part of deep cleaning
or the work trade option for garden maintenance.

When you finish weeding or working with Green
materials bring them up to the driveway.

Some light weight materials--such as vetch--
a nitrogen fixer, can be taken to the compost
building area.

Most green materials go into these cans.

MATERIALS O.K. for GREEN RECYCLABLE CANS

MULCH

All materials in the Green Recyclable Cans
goes to Miramar where it is turned into Mulch.

People then come with trucks or vans and collect
the mulch for their gardens. Mulch is a covering
that helps preserve the fertile soil around trees,
and has many garden uses as a covering. and protection.

WHAT IS O.K. FOR MULCH?

1-bamboo kindling. This is the harder
bamboo.

Please make sure you understand the difference
between the harder bamboo and the cane.
Cane does not go in these 24 gallon cans.

2-weeds.

3-Other Green materials.

4-Untreated wood can also go in these cans.

WEIGHT- We have 16 cans currently on the property.
Please do not stuff them . They should not weigh more
than 40 lbs. For most of us, 25 pounds is maxmum.

BLACK CANS

These are for trash.
These go into the Miramar Landfill.
The Landfill is almost full.

Please do not put anything in the Black Trash Cans
that can go into the Blue Recycle Bins or the Green
Materials Cans.

We have four Black Cans.

Palm Fronds and cane need to go to into the
Black cans. These will not mulch. The stringy
materials, even when old, will not mulch.

CLOSING THE LIDS

The black cans are lifted by a machine.

The Tops need to be be fully closed.

Bamboo kindling does not go into the black cans.
This is a correction. Please NOTE.

Only Cane goes into the Black Cans.

A goal in the next year will be to grow less cane.
IT is currently used here as a privacy shelter.

It is an invasive materials.

Another goal would be long range to learn to use it
to make walls of cane, as they do in mexico.
This is an Art Project; perhaps an item for sale
or for use to design the healing area.
