These are the notes I composed
for the Closing Ceremony at the Pacific Symposium
that I will read this morning.

Let's welcome Leslie for an brief Closing ceremony.
It is a great honor to tend the Plant Your Dream Pacific Symposium Altar,
a Sacred Space located in the Foyer across from Registration.
It is a place where you each have the opportunity to Bless each
others deepest seed dreams with seeds, and go deep inside
to write out what you will be celebrating in your world
a year from now.
In our heart of hearts,
I know many of us are concerned for the
state of our beloved world.
It is in times like these that Times in the world begin to
look up. When I look into you, I see healers in the world.
I am deeply touched.
in my heart of hearts, I see The Medicine of Tomorrow
passing into your noble hands. I ask you each to receive that mantle
and carry it with humility and grace.
Each year, I bring TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
herbs and ask you to plant them.
I do this because I believe that the Earth and the Soul
are Soilmates.
I do this because I see a time, when many of us
will be growing portions of our own medicine right
in Enchanted Gardens in our own backyards.
This year, I have been focused on two basic seeds,
Job’s Tear from my own garden, and Moxa,
one of the most common herbs used in Traditional
Medicine.
A few months ago, I discovered that San Diego had a local micro
brewery called the Stone Brewing company. To my amazement,
I discovered that in the middle ages, moxa, or Mugwort,
as it is called, was used as the brewing agent before hops.
The name itself, Mugwort refers to a mug.
So let’s all close our eyes for a moment.
Let’s imagine that those who sow in tears,
will reap in joy!
Let’s imagine fields and fields of Moxa g
rowing right here in San Diego, and Moxa growing
in your backyard.
Let’s imagine ourselves using moxa grown
by a Pacific College Student run coop.
Let’s imagine the profits helping to
underwrite students with scholarships,
and our students having the opportunity to grow
a bit of their own medicines from seed.
Let’s see local organic farmers finding a cash crop
to sustain a local farm economy here in San Diego,
a city that was once one of the food
growing capitals of the world.
Let’s imagine The Stone Brewing
Company, using our Moxa,
and coming up with an
organic brew.
Let’s imagine some of us seldom and non- drinkers
visiting the Catamaran Pub tonight, where they
serve on draft a brew from the Stone Brewing Company.
On the note, I want to present Jack,
as our designated drinker, a bottle of
one of Stone Brewing Company’s
outrageous brews called Arrogant Bastard Ale.
The gift of an Arrogant Bastard Ale T-shirt
will be forthcoming next week from The Stone Brewing Company.
My whole life I have thought of myself
as that ancient Chinese Kabbalist The Prophet Job,
who was tested by God. His world turned upside down.
And then, at a time in his life, his life was met with
great fulfillment as he Blessed his friends.
Let’s all be Job now. Let’s take our deepest
most profound seed dreams out of the box.
Here are words from Job’s Prayer,
a poem from the forthcoming reissue of my book
“Rekindling of Faith” that you can pre order now at the Altar:
Come, my friends,
let us taste peace in holy foods forever; smell Peace
in wild baby herbs planted where unloved weeds grow;
hear and feel its ode to joy from the mouth of Earth-like
Angels as we dare to dance with water hoses.
Oh Friend--Sing me your heartfelt knowing
of an age of peace we begin growing again
in harmony with nature.
As we listen in compassion,
let's plant beauty and friendship that in making life
we draw holy presence into each of us.
Oh sacred child you are, freed,
restored, returned, bringer of sunlight who found
a way to Earth, let us nurture your Seed Dream in our shared garden.
Together, let's make more fertile soil
