One more piece of mail arrived yesterday on the Magic Day of
Beltane when we light the Fires of our Hearts and come out of
Winter.
I have been Celebrating the Historic Organic Celebration--
Ripe
Local
Fresh
Organic
Strawberries
came into
the Hillcrest San Diego
Whole Foods Market
for the First Time in History.
I had the honor of Midwifing this
at various points during the day.
The eyes were wide open
as the lovely Goddesses to Be
tasted by Invitation the RIpe Berries.
One Elder said,
"I have not eaten a berry like that
since I was in Luxenburgh 30 years ago!"
She asked when they would be available here next?
I said, "I will bring them back in next Sunday!"
She said, "I will be make a point of shopping here
next Sunday!"
Sounds like a lead item to me!!!
So, this is an education process.
Thoreau, my bud once said, "A ripe berry never reaches Boston!"
These were Ripe berries that reached the Whole Foods Store.
I was taking before and after photos
as scientific research for Enchanted Garden Member
Charles Benbrook, Chief Scientist for the Organic Center.
Of course, is this only a visual energetic kind of energy,
one that is more observed that didactic.
What do you say when a woman opens her mouth
wide to take in the luscious berry...
She tastes.
Her mouth touches.
The red juices explode inside her oral cavity.
Her eyes open wide.
The sparkle returns in the public arena
of a commercial shopping super health market?
I mean what are the words that
describe the Act when a woman takes in
her First Super Ripe Berry in the aisles of
Whole Foods????
(Rising Sun...Kerm...Ren...Sqeaky Clean...
Fellow Wordsmiths of the Curezone,
what is the name for this?????)
So Sunday was all about bringing the berries in.
Parts of the day were challenging.
The ten boxes arrived in two trucks,
so I made two trips to nearby Whole Foods from
the Hillcrest Farmers' Market.
Bill Becket, the Produce Mgr. wanted the price
to be the same retail as the commercial organics
that are picked presumably four to five days ago.
These were picked that very morning!
At night, I checked back before closing.
Shawn was putting away the berries--all of them
for overnight cooling. There were four of our
Super Ripes unsold. He said that was pretty good.
I assumed they would go out Monday morning.
When I called to give my report to Bill Becket,
he informed me that they were nto put out.
He said they were gone!
Oh my God, my heart dropped!
Were they composted?
What does Whole Foods do with the Raw Remains
of Produce? We have to have some special Rules
here. These could have been frozen...or????
I would get a special grant from the Organic Center
or the Enchanted Garden to buy back the berries.
I mean, this was not Normal Food, this was
Sacred
Holy
Love Berries!!!
Do you get it?????
I mean I was asking the shoppings...

Ripe Freshly Picked Berries?
I was having revelations myself
as I endulged in a few strays that were
too Wild to stay put in the pint plastic!!!
I realized that our Health is not just about
eating Organic, the food also needs to be FRESH
FRESH
FRESH...!!!!
DO you get it?
Have you ever eaten Fresh?????????
I mean picked within hours of when it was still growing????
These are....
"Berries so fresh they do not know they've been picked yet!"
my promo materials said.
At one point in the day, I asked Sal the Assist Team Leader of
the store, to make an announcement that these Farmers' Market
Berries were here.....time passed...nothing happened...
Then Dave was on shift...I told him...a half hour passes.
Each minute that passed the Berries were getting more and more
ripe...I mean you could breathe in the fragrance.
By this time, I was aware that some of the men were
buying the strawberries for the the women in their lives.
There was that twinkle between us.
SURVEY QUESTION:
Are Super RIpe Berries a Woman Thing more than
a Man thing???
With a couple of the customers...I said,
"if you can hold back eating them all, put a few
in your bedroom...so the woman in your life
can inhale the fragrance...
"Do you understand what I mean?"
I said.
The men's eyes twinkled.
Take Two: I mean this is a conversation happening
in the aisles of Whole Foods...please...
this is not your ordinary shopping experience, right?
I made a number of potential new friends...
For years, I have been shopping at this Whole Foods...
lots of times, I get depressed when I shop.
I often feel that the shoppers are holding back,
as if they are taken in by the George Bush Terrorist
Home Security Program. I mean, you wouldn't
want to say hello to a fellow shopper, not would you?
What might they want?

Is it proper etiquette to speak to a fellow shopper
while Shopping at Whole Foods Market in Hillcrest?
So today was the day following Strawberry Day.
I was filled with May Day energies, to say the least.
I could hardly work. I had to dial the numbers of
the Goddesses on my Active List.
I was also realizing that Anthony Zolezzi's book
"How Dog Food daved the Earth" was based
on his Big Aha with seeing Ripe strawberries in the field.
Amazing syncronistic....
Then...the mail came.
I recieved a check from Anthony's Marketing Company
without him knowing I was doing marketing for our
Organic Agenda today with his Totem Food.
I also recieved a check from OTA...the Organic Trade
Association on May Day. I was waiting for those checks!!
There was one more piece of Unique Mail.
IT was from Enchanted Garden Member John Vasconcellos,
a dear friend. John's Legacy is the Politics of Trust Project.
The book he sent me was from some library shelf...
It is called "The Complete Book of Garden Magic"
by Roy E Biles, © 1955 and 1940.
I thought to look at the writeup on strawberry plants.
I found one. Then, I put the book on the Altar table
in the Hallway, opened to that page.
As I turned around, I found an index card
that had fallen presumably out of this book onto
the kitchen floor.
I picked it up.
The index card, the only one in the book,
said, "Strawberry cultivation," p. 177
