Precious Blood of Jesus
Hymn for Thursdays, Blessed Sacrament and Feast of the Precious Blood
O Precious Blood, O love divine, O Precious Blood, thy truest vine. O Precious Blood redeem mankind, thou gave to all a sacrifice.
At eight days old, your love is kind, to shed thy blood, for us mankind; A little babe you cared for us, circumcised thou-self to be like us.
If trees could speak the gardens would tell, the sweat and blood no man can tell, thou heart did break, thou blood did shed, thou sorrow for us is unto death.
Thou blood divine poured out in crimes, against they scourge my saviour’s life, our sins are accountable for stripes; thy Precious Blood for me did cry.
The crown that burst the thirst of love, the head that bears the Precious Blood, the thorns, the pain contains the flow; a crown of life merit’s the souls.
The blood that flowed run down from him, who showed such love immortal spring, the cross he carried carry blood of life, to vanquish my mortal sin.
O life which burst for love on high, true flesh, true blood I can’t deny, true exclamation of love itself, the gates of hell cannot prevail.
O blood and water which camest forth, this side, the mystery of life enforced, my saviour’s blood, O lovedivine; salvation wine’s is my eternal life.
