About Sarvey Wildlife Center:
http://www.sarveywildlife.org/AboutUs.aspx

Goals of the Center:

*Provide wildlife rehabilitation and care
*Educate and sensitize the public to the needs of wildlife
*Expand and share the existing rehabilitation knowledge base

The Wildlife Care Center was established in 1981 in Everett, Washington, with a handful of patients from the local neighborhood. In 2005 Sarvey took in 3339 animals, 14 Bald Eagles alone, 174 Raptors total, making Sarvey the largest bird of prey rehabilitation center in the northwest.

The Sarvey Wildlife Center keeps a list of stories written by the staff and volunteers who work everyday with the rescued wild animals: http://www.sarveywildlife.org/Stories.aspx

I recommend the following:

"The Circle of Healing" http://www.sarveywildlife.org/Story.aspx?id=7

"Brother Owl's Song" http://www.sarveywildlife.org/Story.aspx?id=426

Hi Everyone,

Winter is here early this year and the wild ones still come in to Sarvey. This our slow time of year injury wise but it's the time of year we get projects done that we have not had time to do before. We are going to fence in the whole property and that will cost some serious coin but it has to happen. It has been a long time in the making but it will happen.

Here's a little info on what we have been doing and what you have been supporting. We have had 2973 animals come in total as of 11/23/08 and our overall release rate for all species is roughly 71%.

The most unique things to come in...Caspian's Auklet, Cougar cub, several Northern Pygmy Owls. The cougar cub came from Granite Falls, found in a ditch, extremely parasitized, thin, dehydrated, touch and go for the first few days to get her past the dehydration. When she arrived she weighed 7.7 pounds. When we transferred her outside she was up to 20 pounds and when she left for the Wild Animal Orphanage in San Antonio she was 25 pounds. She arrived in perfect condition, with any luck we'll have pictures of her later in 2009. We couldn't release her because cougars (cat of the gods, firecat, ghostwalker, all names for the cougar) learn how to hunt and live from their mothers. They stay with their mothers about 18-24 months and then they're on their own. She would not have had a chance if we raised her and released her. So now she will have room to run, trees to climb, and sun to soak up. You can see photo's of the cub the Sunday morning she came in.

Our education team led by Kestrel Skyhawk as of October had done a combined total of 50 programs reaching over 8,200 people. We are looking to get a new education van. The one we are using is the old ambulance and Kestrel is doing quite a lot of programs, more than we have ever done before.

The brand new newsletter is here along with a new way you can help plus much more:

We'd like to thank all of our volunteers and staff for without them none of this would happen and many wild lives would be lost. Thank you for supporting this place of hope, we wouldn't be here without you. This place gives a great deal of comfort to the people who call us and bring us injured animals. Having found an injured raccoon or squirrel or a small rabbit and you want to help but have nowhere to turn, what do you do? From the gift of Kaye Baxter we are there for you and the wild ones.

If you can help us help our wild friends please donate today and remember it is tax deductible.

From all of us to all of you a very merry Christmas.
