Dear Curezoners:
A January 9, 2008 article from The Los Angeles Times states that Reny is suing Glenn County for violating his constitutional rights. Additionally, Reny is seeking an injunction against the Glenn County Mental Health and Sheriff's Departments to insure that others with mental health challenges do not have to endure what Reny and his family have had to endure.
Even faced with his continuing mental and physical health challenges and legal difficulties, Reny and his family are concerned about others. NO ONE with mental health challenges should have to go through what Reny and countless other Californians have had to go through--neglect, indifference, or harm, on account of our State's failed mental health and penal systems.
I am asking you to continue to support Reny and his family in whatever way you feel comfortable:
--Pray for Reny Cabral and his family--for Reny's continuing recovery, for the family's continuing fortitude, and for a positive legal resolution for Reny.
--Make a donation to Reny's legal defense fund. Although Reny is suing for monetary damages, it may take many months to even years for a resolution. In the meantime, the Glenn County District Attorney's office is pressing ahead with criminal charges against Reny, and the family is in need of funds to pay his legal expenses.
