Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome   19 y
Several neuroendocrine studies have suggested hypoactivation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in chronic fatigue syndrome. One possible determinant of this neuroendocrine abnormality, as well as the primary symptom of fatigue, is reduced hypothalamic secretion of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH).

The Salt-Vitamin C Theory for CFS   19 y
The photos at this site are too horrible for me to contemplate, however, the Salt/C protocol is interesting. Our theory is that due to the decreased consumption of salt in our daily diets, we have allowed the invasion of parasites into our bodies and those of our pets and livestock.

Frequently Asked Questions We receive many emails asking a variety of questions. Often the answers are already contained on the website. Take the time to look at the photographs and read through all the text on all the pages. Sometimes the questions are of a personal nature and are not appropriate to answer. While every person’s illness is a personal matter, the solution or cure is not necessarily personal. The goal of the site is to make known and available to other sufferers the experiences and results of some who have tried a different remedy. Both the site and the treatment mentione ...   read more

A Few thoughts on Sodium and CFS/FMS   19 y
As many of you may already know from earlier posts to this forum (thmi-fms) and from the information presented on this website, the suggested approach to reversing symptoms of CFS/FMS include: 1, increasing metabolism and eliminating metabolic waste using FIR sauna, (A much less expensive option is to use two stand alone FIR heaters to acheive a similar benefit.) 2, hydrating the body using alkaline ionized water. 3, Restoring suspected mineral deficiencies. And, 4, Restoring balance to the GI tract

HILLARY JOHNSON TALKS ABOUT CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME AND HER NEW BOOK, Osler's Web

Is chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) an illness made up by emotionally troubled people, or is it a legitimate medical illness? Yes, it is absolutely a legitimate illness. In fact, studies show that CFS is among the most severe of all medical diseases known to man. In the last decade, there have been an abundance of scientific studies that prove CFS carries with it a large range of immunological abnormalities. In addition, scientists have shown that the disease causes significant brain problems, in the form of multiple small anatomical holes in the brain with concurrent I.Q. losses. Stealth Viruses and CFS   19 y
The thesis of our studies is that severe CFS is but one of many manifestations of a persistent, systemic viral infection that causes brain damage.2 Involvement of the brain in CFS is implied by the historical use of terms such as neurasthenia, myalgic encephalomyelitis, and limbic encephalopathy.3 Some investigators have argued that the disturbed brain function is a secondary phenomenon resulting, for example, from the overproduction of neuromodulatory cytokines.4 Immune dysregulation is also proposed to explain reactivation of normally tolerated ubiquitous microorganisms, such as Epstein-Barr virus, human herpesvirus-6, Candida albicans, Mycoplasma fermentans, Chlamydia pneumoniae, etc.5 Recent attention has also been given to possible brain damage from exposure to environmental neurotoxins, including gut derived bacterial products.6

Stealth Viruses and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Attempts to define the chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) as a clinical diagnostic entity1 have met with difficulties mainly because of a lack of clear separation of what could be considered normal variation in human functional capacity, and what should be considered a medical illness. Patients with debilitating fatigue are inappropriately grouped along with individuals with only minimal impairment in their daily activities. Some severely affected CFS patients eventually meet criteria for neurological, psychiatric and/or immunological disease cl ...   read more

For NON-CFS/FMS/ME People   19 y
This letter was written at the behests of several of our Chronic Fatigue Patients. Since it is almost impossible for the non-CFS person to understand the feelings of these individuals, we have attempted to bridge this gap with this monograph. We suggest you download it and give a copy to all who doubt your suffering.

We live in an age when the sensitivity toward, and compassion for, individuals who have disabilities of all types is at a high level. Unfortunately, we find that many people have a great deal of trouble extending this same understanding to those suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The reasons for this apathy toward the plight of these individuals are not difficult to understand. Usually the CFS patient does not look sick to the unpracticed eye. Even doctors are frequently very dubious about the validity of these patient’s condition since all their test results are usually in the ...   read more

Cheney - New Oxygen Treatment   19 y
Dr. Cheney recently began prescribing oxygen for patients with alkaline venus blood. Up to an hour of oxygen in the morning can provide half a day of significant improvement and numerous benefits. He has been seeing alkaline blood results in patients for years, but dismissed it as insignificant, based on what he was taught in medical school. His growing suspicion that it was actually very significant was confirmed when a speaker at an international conference on fatigue in London began a presentation by announcing "Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to tell you that CFS patients are alkalotic."

Nat'l Center for Infectuous Diseases A Clinical Picture of Chronic Fatigue -   19 y
Conclusion: Most cases of CFS in the population are unrecognized by the medical community; persons diagnosed as having CFS may be different from persons with CFS in the general population. Conclusions: SAQ© factors describe sleep abnormalities associated with CFS and provide more information than the Epworth score. Validation of these promising results will require formal polysomnographic sleep studies. Conclusions: Persons with chronic fatigue syndrome are as impaired as persons whose fatigue could be explained by a medical or psychiatric condition, and they have less energy than non-fatigued controls.

ME/CFS Post-Exertional Malaise / Fatigue and Exercise   19 y
Even though post-exertional malaise is a hallmark feature of ME/CFS, exercise programs are often prescribed with little thought to the effect they may have on patients. The panel of experts for the ME/CFS clinical consensus document(1) stressed that a thorough evaluation of patients and their total illness burden, optimizing medical management, and a careful evaluation of pain generators and risk factors must be done before even considering an exercise program. As much care must be taken in prescribing appropriate exercise for ME/CFS patients as in prescribing pharmaceuticals.(5)
