To "Know"   19 y
The Power of Knowing and Your Word

”Knowing” Words in Indo-European Languages -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first systematic theory of the relationships between human languages began when Sir William Jones, ”Oriental Jones,” proposed in 1786 that Greek and Latin, the classical languages of Europe, and Sanskrit, the classical language of India, had all descended from a common source. The evidence for this came from both the structure of the languages -- Sanskrit grammar has similarities to Greek and to nothing else -- and the vocabulary of the languages. Thus, ”fa ...   read more

The "Most Beloved One" is Visiting   19 y
The "Most Beloved One" is coming to town for the wedding of her best friend!

The ”Most Beloved One” is coming to town this week. She is 6 foot tall, funny, IQ in the stratsophere, lite brown-blonde hair, blue-green-gold eyes, beautiful of face, slender of body and going through a difficult stage. HAHAHAHAHA-There have been a couple since I gave birth to her. All in all not many. She is flying in from the San Francisco area-Palo Alto, where she works for a well known GUI interface, graphics chip manufacturer. I believe she is important, I know she runs a program for the company’s new talent. She meets the best young engineers in engineering programs at Carn ...   read more

Seder and Passover   19 y
I have such hunger for ancient tradition! I have a good buddy who is schooling me in 'Jew Lite' as she calls it. We are cooking a meal for Passover together, I am the prep chef since I do not know any dishes YET, for this sacred holiday. I am learning though-am I learning

dear friends, sat nam. it is the season for jews to celebrate the passover, which commemorates (historically) our deliverance from slavery in egypt, under the mighty hand of God. more modern interpretations stretch the analogy to see this season as a time to rejoice in being released from whatever narrow places (the hebrew word ’mitzrayim’ is translated usually as ’egypt,’ but literally it means ’narrow places’) we may have been bound in. it occurred to me this morning that kirtan kriya has served as my moses, and allowed God to deliver me from some narrow places where i was tra ...   read more

The Tigress cycle is exciting, and frustrating. Hunting vegetables is not very challenging. They move so slowly!

So the weather is gorgeous and the water has warmed up to 59 degrees AND regardless of the rain we had day before yesterday I went IN. After my Kundalini Yoga class with Banoo, I drove down to the primo swim spot to see what the wind conditions were. Everything looked good I hopped out of the car wrapped a towel around me and changed from yoga duds into my bathing suit right out there on the street-! I felt slightly uncomfortable but really -who cares? I’m pretty adroit with towel manuvering while removing underclothes, so there were only momentary flashes of indecent exposure. Courage to be Yourself   19 y
It's no wonder Alex quit his job, a CFO at AON is likely to be indicted by the SEC with NY Atty General Spitzer prosecuting the Insurance Industry. I like Kate's Idea! But best of all I like Amelia Earhart's Courage Quote!

Monday, April 18, 2005 Good Monday morning, Joan! In This Week’s Newsletter Susan & Alex Love Their Jobs TheLadders.Comic Investing in Your Social Capital Want to love what you do? Then do what you love. And in that case, you couldn’t find a better pair of role models than my friends Alejandro and Susan Muñoz. We had dinner at the Muñozes’ on Friday. Alex cooked for four. I suppose ”Alex made a five-course meal for four worthy of three stars from the Michelin Guide” would be a long shot more accurate. Abundance Coach-Paul Bauer 'Prison of Beliefs'   19 y
Paul has some pretty cool software that inspires and reminds!

”The Prison Of Beliefs” You’re probably aware of the principle that whatever you think about most, you attract. But what you may not be aware of is what you’re actually thinking (the un-conscious habitual thoughts) - all day long. What are your thoughts and feelings focused on most? Peace and calm? Your abundance? What you’re grateful for in your life? Your creative gifts (and how to share them)? Others perhaps? Many people fall into states of what the old sage Vernon Howard called ”Psychic Sleep” - where you feel that life is happening ”to you” (victim mentality) i ...   read more

I AM God Today :-)   19 y
Water, Absolute Silence, and Entrainment.

What a beautiful day and the water is back up to 59 degrees-and I am in love with life. I always am reminded of myself- or perhaps, a better description is I am always ”brought into myself” by open water swimming. The cold salty water lapping over my arms and back while I kick powerfully and test my responses and strength. I am so fulfilled. I AM so alive! I can taste life in my mouth. I thought I caught a glimpse of my Seal (see seal sighting). Now that I intuit he is curious but not territorial-I want to play with him. In summer, the Navy will have the ”trained” dolphins out prac ...   read more

GET out of the Bad Neighborhood   19 y
So many humans experience depression and shut down, when the reciprocal experience is to GET OUT of YOURSELF. We are meant to GIVE of ourselves, Share with each other ourselves. All have divine talents-What are you doing with yours? April 17th-24 is National Volunteer Week- You make a difference- And it feels soooo Good!

Did You Know: Value of a Volunteer Hour The Independent Sector announced that the value of volunteer time, updated yearly, has increased from $17.19/hour in 2003, to $17.55/hour in 2004. The value of volunteer time is based on the average hourly earnings for private nonagricultural workers as determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and then increased by 12 percent to estimate fringe benefits. When the Independent Sector first calculated the value of volunteer time in 1980, it was $7.46/hour. The Independent Sector estimates the total value of hours volunteered in 20 ...   read more

A Prayer   19 y
Loving others

A PRAYER I asked God to take away my habit. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up. I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary. I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is learned. I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you. I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked G ...   read more

God Created......then...   19 y
Is IT God or the Devil's fault?

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. Then using God’s great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and Krispy Kreme Donuts. And Satan said, ”You want chocolate with that?” And Man said, ”Yes!” and Woman said, ”and as long as you’re at it, add some sprinkles.” And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled. And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found ...   read more

Volkswagen Mafioso Dealerships   19 y
German Mafioso wants Drivers...And they mean business! Has anyone tried to turn in a leased vehicle to Volkswagen?

I have had a leased VW for 4 years and a month. I have been trying to give them back their car. Apparently no one wants it back. I don’t know , it occurs to me that I ought to just take a quick trip to Mexico and have the car ”remodeled” down there and sell it. 2 months before the lease came due, the cat converter went out -after 3 weeks of dicking around with VW-OH and BTW, 2 of those weeks were spent without a rental car-and the other week was at my expense! SouthBay VW, located in San Diego, Ca, refused to admit anything was wrong with the car. My own mechanic told me the cat w ...   read more

I aided and abetted the "Lord of the Flies" Crab Catcher Tribe!

More on the yesterday’s fun. When I finally hauled out to shore from the cold water swim, I met up with 4 little boys who ranged in age from 7-10. Prime mischief ages. They were hoisting big rocks and catching the little crabs that ran out from under them-and putting the crabs in a large bucket. They tell me all about it it as I am walking back to my towel-or should I say as I shivered my way back to my towel! They knew a trooper when they saw one. They brought me to their large bucket and pointed out the big one! (The Big One) He was good sized for shore crabs - an inch and a half i ...   read more

Cold, Cold Water Blog-   19 y
It was 56 degrees, and I wonder if I would've gone in today, if the man with disbelief had not teased me into it?

Off for a swim, the water was really, really cold-the air warm and sunny. YIKES, it took all I could muster to get my core in that cold water. One of the men who was enjoying my dilemma as I inched my way into the water, began with ”yes, it’s 3 degrees colder than last week” I guessed that it was 56 degrees. He nodded with a big smile, obviously having some fun with me. He said ”you could jump right in and get right out” I said ”no, I swim from Peckhams to Southwest yacht Club” He looked impressed but not totally convinced. Of course, now I must go in to have my swim for his benefi ...   read more

MYTHOLOGY By Jean Houston The biggest cause of stress and anxiety is caused from a perceived disconnection with the divine, either within oneself or in the universe. In order to facilitate an individual in reconnecting to a sense of the divine, they need to first be reconnected with the ancient concepts of human potential. They need to be educated in the understandings of how the human energetic system operates to raise an individual’s level of consciousness. An experiential understanding of the human charkra system is the root and the beginning to grasping how the mind, body and spi ...   read more

I had some Big Surprises this Weekend- Concentrated Joy from Chaos

I got home from Palo Alto this afternoon with a thoughtful, heartfelt gift from my NEW son-in-law to be- a car, his Mercedes. I have been going around and around with my VW Jetta financing and if I actually should finance it- or dump it and finally own a vehicle again. Since I haved owned my business for the last 15 years I write off all my lease vehicles-so it made sense not to own. (Yes, it’s tax time again! Line up those writeoffs!) While my daughter was out of town at Topcoders, the software geek showdown, I spoke to her longtime boyfriend and lover about the decision process an ...   read more
