Hello ladies. What a relief to find this site with all of your comments re the side effects of Mirena. I have had the coil for two years now (am 51yrs of age)and it was inserted to control very heavy periods and anaemia. It has been effective and I don't have periods any longer. HOWEVER I have been feeling so unwell (despite healthy diet and lots of exercise) with left hip joint pain (extensively investigated with no known cause found). Recently (the last month)there has been an avalanche of symptoms such as being barely able to walk once getting out of bed because lower leg muscles refuse to work. Pain can reamin for several days. Headaches that go for 10 plus days,mood swings that are positively unbearable from lability to being ok to the depths of depression. Hot flushes especially at night. Recent skin spotting on my back and what appears to reddened fungal like "patches" on my front upper torso. No to mention the the effect on my libdo. the breast soreness, the bloating, increased sinusitis pain and unstable BP.Would love to hear from ladies in similar age group if they are experiencin any of the above. I am off to discuss removal of the Mirena in October. Cheers to all.
