Wow. I had no idea that my back pain and hip pain could be related to the Mirena. I went out and bought an expensive memory foam mattress so I could sleep without pain at night. I had the Mirena inserted on Sept 6, 2005 when I had surgery for endomitriosis and fibroids on my uterus. My doctor recommended it to help keep me from having all the previous problems. I cannot take the pill (tried several), tried the patch and the stupid ring. I basically cannot use synthetic hormones, but thought I should give this IUD a try.
My periods have always been horrible since I started having them when I was twelve. That was many years ago. Anyway, I have gained weight and cannot stand wearing anything constricting. I have had to buy pants at least one size too big so I can dress for work. My belly has remained bloated since I had my surgery. And my legs swell. My periods have been very light which has been the ONLY plus, but the cramping has come back.
I have been under a lot of stress lately, but now I think it has been magnified by the Mirena. I have been stressed before, but not felt all the time like I have been run over. Every morning I get up and I feel like I have been beat up from head to toe. Really head to toe--I have headaches, neck pain, back pain, hip pain, swollen legs, and a very painful bunion on my left foot.
I am going to see a different GYN and talk about having the Mirena removed. I am so very glad to see that I am not alone. I just wish this would have worked for me.
Take care ladies!
